Am I the only one the that really hates Brian Mitchell with the Comcast Post Game.... because he sounds so **spensored** right???
I don't know how many people watch the post game on Comcast but man for the past few years B. Mitch has been on there and he always sounds on point. It may not be the most popular responses or even the nicest, but they are usually true. He was a Redskin great and he speaks from his experiences. He knows Gibbs from the old days.
Please share your thoughts!
I was just wondering.....

I really like B Mitch on that show.....he doesn't pull any punches. Might be the toughest skin that I've seen play....but im only 24. He would get in anybody's face and talk junk to anyone on ANY team. Alot of people think he's bitter about not being a skin anymore....and there probably is some bitterness there but thats just because he loved being a skin.
It showed on the most recent post game show. Chick in the opening when he introduced Brian Mitchell referred to him as a former Giant...and B Mitch cut him off quickly with a smile on his face and said "FORGET THE GIANTS THING MAN"!!!

I don't have a link or anything. I do have a pretty good memory though.
This time he said that we played uninspired.
The entire team should all be professionals and not need to have "Our backs against the wall" to play hard and smart.
When Portis was asked about dressing up during the first two weeks he said that the time wasn't right, so being that he dressed up I guess he felt like times were better.
He said he doesn't feel that Portis dressing up has anything to do with us losing but as a young guy and a leader, and someone that the young players are inspired by, it may project an Portis is laid back now, so we can relax a little mode.
Are there any vets in the locker room that can communicate with the players and keep their heads on straight so that they can stay focused and take it to everybody week in and week out.
It was a game that meant something and we didn't play hard at all.
Brunell has impressed, but if the line doesn't do it's job it makes him look alot worse.
Those were some of the things he said after this game. It wouldn't upset me if he wasn't right.

In the old NFL the best players were usually guys who had been around for a long time. The best players, who can lead by example, have enough locker room cred. to lead.
In today's NFL, your best players are often young. On our team, our best players are all FA acquisitions other than Taylor, Samuels and, to a lesser degree, Dockery and Jansen.
Yes, Portis is a team leader because he plays hard and produces, even away from the ball. Southeast Jerome is Dead. So, apparently is Dolomite Jenkins. They can join Hoffa in the Meadowlands endzone and stay there.
I don't think that Portis playing a character from a bad junior-high production affects the outcome of a divisional game. If it does, this team has no chance, which I don't believe.

Brian is a straight shooter, for better or worse.
That's one of the things that I like about him.He doesn't sugarcoat anything and holds the players/coaches accountable. He doesn't play it safe and tow the organizational line.
He's also man enough to admit when he's wrong.

I agree with this word for word. I have always liked B-Mitch. The only problem I ever had with him is that he would talk trash on every single play he was ever in. Actually he did it so much it became comical, and I started looking for him after every play he was in the game for, and find out who he was barking at. Edit: But it didn't really matter how much he talked, b/c he always backed it up w/ pure toughness.
I think he is absolutely a straight shooter 100% of the time, and you can tell that most of what he says is based on his love for the Redskins.

I really like Brian. I met him last year. He's sincere about his fondness for the fans around here. He does make time to talk with us. I believe he probably was treated unfairly before he left and I respect him for coming back out of sense of history and respect for the franchise and the fans. So in my mind that speaks a lot about his character.
As for what he brings to the show, I think he's being completely honest. He's clearly pulling no punches or being melodramatic. He calls it the way he sees it. I respect that too.
The other thing he said concerned the defense. He's really worried about the line and the secondary. "When your number one and two tacklers are a safety and a corner, you've got real issues on the line"

This is closer to what I would I say. I said some bad things too. However, with that apology I also gave back then came the better appreciation for what he does do in a community I did little of to help. He has every right, and the knowledge to know there's an "upstairs" issue in the coaching tree. They really need a voice that knows the man. I am curious to hear from DOC soon too.

I actually met him at a Quarterback Club Luncheon last year. He's the same way off the air that he is on the air. What more could you ask from than for someone to be a straight shooter, even if you don't always agree? That's BMitch.

We're fortunate that folks are still hanging in there and care enough to offer HONEST opinions, not worrying about future access. Heck, the Indy Pacers team is ALREADY given up on and their first game in the NBA hasn't even been played :lol1:
Tunnel vision won't fix problems if its tunnel vision to ignore them or go, oh well. I am sooo curious about the tweaking GW and AS do and THEIR conversations between the two of them. Oh to be a fly on the wall :)

what makes it tough is that one week it is the offense and one week it is the defense.. the blame is system wide even though it varies from week to week
and i like b mitch and appreciate his candor.. nobody played with more passion throughout an entire career.

Hey,.... I don't hate him... I just hate that what he says sounds true! I feel as though if we have a lot of "good character guys" , then they need to dig down and nicely Knock the **Spensored** outta every team, every week! Then WE ALL can celebrate at seasons end!
Peace.....

B-Mitch is right on point, and he has access to the players so he gets the inside skinny we don't have. He tells the truth, ala the loyalty thing from Saunders to qb Collins which hurts the future qb Campbell. if you want the whole truth listen to Mitchell.

i do not think there is any loyalty issue with collins.. one thing is clear, the day brunell is replaced, it will be by campbell and not collins...

I have no clue Shally but according to Mitch the locker room vibe was Gibbs wants Jason as the #2 and Saunders prefers Collins and noone really knows why, and since Gibbs lets his coaches coach Collins is 2, your take??

saunders has let slide a couple of snide remarks about campbell.. considering that he had zero to do with his selection, i guess he feels he can say what he feels like. maybe that is his way of simply keeping campbell humble. and maybe saunders is just an arrogant jerk...
collins might be the one to go in in the middle of a game if brunell goes down, but gibbs has made it clear that campbell would start with a week of prep time.
that said, the day we see collins as the starter for any length of time would be the most damning comment about the front office and their ability to scout players that i can think of.. the concept that campbell is not just about ready to be a quality starter is too horrible to even consider.. it would mean this franchise is on the verge of sinking into the bottom tier of teams for some time...
there is not likely to be another drew brees come down the pike to be a ready made quality starter for this team any time in the future. we have committed a tremendous amount-- we simply have to be right about campbell...

Sadly, apart from last year, we have been there for the past 15 years almost...
I don't even want to think about what my reaction could be if I were to see Collins start a game this season..

I like some of what Mitchell does on the Post Game and on his 980 show. Many times however he just says things to shock or to simply disagree with whatever the first person said, kind of like Sean Salisbury. He's a know-it-all and is very cocky about it. He's a sensationalist. I can see why many fans like him though, he's passionately negative 90% of the time which is what many fans seem to want.

I haven't seen the show, but I agree with anyone being critical of the team. We should be sitting at 4-1 this weekend, but instead we are most likely eliminated from playoff contention (barring a copmplete turnaround). The defense is really concerning b/c they are just PUTRID. I expected the offense to struggle a little given the offseason changes so that doesn't bother me as much.

especially given that this is year 3 for GW... compare that to the way the pats performed when troy brown was forced to play in the secondary for them..
no whining about how losing 1 corner made a big difference was there?

Absolutely. And look at their receivers now. Look at what we were able to do last year when we only had one good receiver. A bit different huh?

Mitch is a bitter ex Redskin who takes every opportunity to talk bad about the team, players, coachs, management, or anything else Redskin related. He counters this by saying I hope they do well I really do after every comment but its easy to see how much joy he gets at this teams failure and that is not what you want from your local ex players who report on the team. I want a homer doing analysis of this team. I want them to tell the truth but at the same time I want them to love this team as much as I do. I love the fact that someone like Sunny picks us to win 99% of the time.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this. B Mitch says what a lot of us say on this board but he does it live on TV. He may be bitter but he came back and retired a Redskin. He compliments when we win but he also talks about not being fooled into thinking we are there. I have to agree. When we went on the "two game run" he talked about not being complacent. About not forgetting, even after the win, what we needed to improve on and working on it. He said the Giants would play us hard because they always do in the Meadowlands. After the Texans game Janson talked some smack and he said Janson needed to focus on his errors "2 off sides penalties" and not worry about the media. It's the media's job to call us out.
As far as Sonny,..... I love him and I love my Skins too, but if he is chosing us to win 99% of the time,.... I hope he's not a bettin' man.... He would be broke as hell.

So do I, because the reality is that we win less than 50& of the time..if you're gonna pick a team to win the game (seriously I mean..if he is just supporting the team then it's a different matter), you can't always pick the Skins..that's just not possible..no team wins every game..

B-Mitch actually doesn't throw too many compliments out when we win and even the one's he does are tempered with a but.... As soon as the show began after the Houston game he started ripping them while Ray Brown was trying to point out the positives of the win. He's a negativist which is why many fans like him, that's what many fans want. Just like you said, he says what many people on this board would say, but unlike you I think that's a bad thing. He's supposed to be a professional with great football knowledge and insight, not an overreacting fan-like point of view. Do you really think all the end-of-the-world analysis that shows up here after any loss is accurate?
I'd be curious to go back and see how many people (on this board)completely wrote off the season and maybe even the whole Gibbs 2 era after some of the losses last year. In analyzing the team you have to discuss negatives, but Mitchell and many message board people go way overboard with it.

I do question his motives to come back and retire here. I like to think that its because he sees himself as a Redskin and plans on supporting this team but my gut tells me that this is the place he could make the most money after football and that is the real reason he has returned.

i just remember him as always jumping up to get in someone's face after every single time he was tackled. i guess as a kid i was influenced by my dad because my dad couldnt stand him.
now he loves to state the obvious as long as it's something negative, and then harp on it. some people may view him as a person with "competetive fire" but i think he's just a bitter person with an over-inflated view of himself. i'm surprised he's even a commentator on a local network. i'm like, couldnt they get anyone better?
