Don't know who else caught it, but on the Triple X tonight at 7:00, Bram was with Brandon Lloyd. What a straight shooter! Asked if he was pleased with his role so far he said "NO, but am I going to call out the coaches? No. Am I going to call out my quarterback? No. That doesn't do anyone any good."...then what he said actually shocked me. "I need to work on the things I can control. I need to block better downfield. I need to open up lanes for Clinton. I need to help spring Santana on screens, etc." He didn't say a thing about catching more balls. What a class act.
On other topics he said in regards to the skins playing dirty...which is addressed in another thread...he didn't see it, but saw the Giants actually breaking a lot to the rules...taunting after the ball is dead, excessive celebrating etc. Should be really interesting when these two teams get back together..
Anyway, thought you guys might be interested in what he had to say.

So... in a way, he calls out the coaches and QB but not really.

Yep and very well spoken and clearly the kind of smart "heady" guy that Gibbs loves. Obviously he said more than I posted...I listened for more than an hour..but the part about doing his part by blocking better really stood out.

Maybe you could read it that way, but if you heard his tone you'd have a pretty positive feeling about it. Also had some VERY interesting comments about Arrington. Said the only coach that matters didn't want him to leave and the players didn't want him to leave. It was Arrington that wanted to leave...it was his call. Then said he's only concerned about being the "best paid defensive player in the universe...that's what I'm seeing and hearing".

I questioned Lloyd's character coming in here, but he's been all positive since stepping foot here.

This is what I had hoped to hear from all players. To look at themselves, improvement, etc. even if they really are doing an outstanding job. Fans can only guess what they really think or what they discuss as a group. I like this temperament compared to finger pointing, pouting about this and that and looking at other players words from other teams. Refreshing.

That's exactly how I felt. I was certain he was going to say something along the lines of "I just have to work harder every day and the balls will come my way". Like I said, he didn't mention one thing about catching balls when talking about what he needed to do to improve. That was really refreshing. Wasn't he the guy blocking the guy that stopped Portis from scoring on that long shovel pass? I wonder if he's taking some accountability for that?

yeah, but Portis actually turned the wrong way. For folks questioning his dedication and ability, I get hurt to hear it, because I used to marvel at how this slender guy, delivered games like Ted Williams did in baseball, for such a very thin looking player. He is constantly impressing me with his downfield blocking and he says he needs to do more. I remember reading how ARE and Moss speak this way. Trust me guys, we got the right crew. Soon, soon!

that was CP's fault. he needed to cut back in, but he was winded and just tried to get to the sidelines.

as long as the effort is there.. and there is no penalty.. i will take whatever we can get from the wideouts blocking.. lloyd weighs, what, about 180 ???

Yeah, I thought it was more Clinton's fault too, but wouldn't it be cool if Brandon was holding himself accountable for that? I dare say, <holding breath> these guys are approaching the game like James Thrash. I love it.

I think he will progressively improve, he has a good attitude and talent, maybe a slow burner?

Some people always know the right things to say, but doing them is another matter. I have been wary of Lloyd from the start and it hasn't changed. He has always reminded me of a politican who spin all the ear candy one can handle and then some.... I keep waiting for him to prove me wrong, but so far there si no substance behind his words. Lloyd really should consider running for office.

I have been very impressed with Lloyd. I am starting to believe that at this point in Brunell's career he just has trouble getting it to the # 2 man very often, Remember Patten was going through this exact same thing last year.
How many times did they even throw in Lloyd's direction Sunday? I can only recall once.
I think if Lloyd keeps working hard and keep this positive attitude he will do well in the end.

You have been very impressed with Lloyd??? Are you talking about Brandon Lloyd? Our wide receiver? Why? How? You are being sarcastic right? (By the way, Patten had almost 3 times the catches that Lloyd has now after 5 games last year. And the Skins are passing the ball much more this year.)

To be fair to Lloyd, who has underwhelmed on the field so far, he can only catch what is thrown to him. Brunnel is missing a lot reads right now because of erratic ine play and his own tendency to happy feet.
Only two receivers have his trust to make plays on an iffy ball and that is still Moss and Cooley. He will only throw to other people (if he sees them at all) behind the line or if they are wide open. Brunnel will not try to fit a ball into tight coverage for other receivers or at least I haven't seen him attempt it to date.
Some of the downside of Lloyd seems to be correct in that he can lack concentration on routine catches.

Lloyd seems like a really likeable guy however he hasn't produced on the field for us yet. He fumbled last week at a crucial time, dropped a pass that would have converted a 1st down yesterday, and just hasn't been overly effective whatsoever. I was in training camp and I can attest to this guy's talent. It is there. He needs more opportunities and needs to take full advantage of all of them. IMO Patten also needs to see more snaps.

How many times have they attempted to get him the ball? He doesn't play quarterback.
The context of this thread is his interview the other night and what a great attitude he has had since coming here. Yes I am impressed. Look at Randy and TO, getting tons of throws their way and still whining because they don't look like the hero! Much like Cooley earlier in the year I think he will come around if he keeps his head up.

If they never try to get him the ball how can you be impressed with him? I can understand not wanting to judge him yet because the season is young, but being impressed seem like a bit too much.
And I think interviews are overrated beyond belief..if all it takes to make a good impression on the fan base is give a good interview, then I could become a local hero in 3 weeks if they sign me. And compared to Randy Moss and T.O., basically every player not playing for the Cincinnati Bengals looks like a saint. If you wanna impress me, produce on the field and don't embarrass the team. If you fail to do both, then it's not enough. Moss, Portis, Randle-El, Washington, those are truly impressive players, at least in my opinion.
