im writing a paper on if the government should censor news media during a time of war. i was wondering if there has ever been a time that something was reported, that the information was useful to who we were in conflict with.

There's a lot of minor examples, but the biggest was during the War between the States, when the Northern papers published the North's "Anaconda" plan that Winfield Scott came up with to defeat the south right as the war was starting.
