BRANDON NOT SO NOBLE?
In the wake of comments by Redskins defensive tackle Brandon Noble that he's seemingly willing to accept that he won't return from a serious knee injury over the weekend, some NFL insiders are criticizing Noble's apparent "take the money and retire" attitude.
“It’s something you have to think about,” Noble said regarding possibly retiring from the game. “But I’m not worried about it. If I don’t come back, then I made it a lot further than anyone thought I would. It’s going to be a long, long road back — if it’s even done.”
Per one league source, "Even if you think you can't come back, act like you will make every effort to do so. It sounds like he is giving up."
The problem for the Redskins is that they can't recoup the $1.8 million signing bonus if Noble never returns due to the injury, and they'd be required to negotiate an injury settlement for the remainder of his four-year, $7 million contract.
