1. Dalton is traded elsewhere
2. Ted Washington is traded to the Pats
3. The only DT's available are not worth Watson or Betts
4. The Champ negotiations are going nowhere

This sucks.

+Unless of course the front office does not view Dalton better than what is currently here. As for Champ, this should have been expected. Some tough decisions are going to have to be made,, one man versus a few different positional sacrifices????? I think before i call it bad day, i will watch it work out and hold back opinion at this point.

i just dont feel real good about going to the regular season with out a proven starter at DT.And there really isnt anyone left worth trading for that we could actually get.
And if the reports are right on the bailey deal i think if he wants to play in DC then we shouldnt be that far off,if he only wants to be the highest paid defensive player then i imagine we will have to tag and trade him for picks.Certainely not a good day.We really need a GM.

On the DT situation, yes, a GM would have had a plan. Going into the off-season it was one of our biggest qestion marks, yet we addressed everything but DT.

In respect to Champ, a GM would not help here. They made an offer, a decent offer it was, Champ wants paid real high and i just do not believe this team can afford it without doing some real damage a year or two down the road. Maybe if my man Champ wants to be liek Darrell, maybe he should take lessons. Whats the prblem with a healthy contract that was offered, maybe a little less than he coudl get ont he market, but do it for the team, do it for DC, do it for the fans. Others have settled cheaper. Hell, Farve has offered a few time to take a pay cut to rbing someone else in if it meant improvement. Where is that attitude. Maybe Champ really doesnt care about all that, maybe it is all about JUST the $$$

I hope my initial feelings about Champ wont be proved wrong. We do need to remember though that he is allowing his agent to work this part out for him... dont know how that works personally... but can only imagine it means more money and less heart.

i agree that a GM wouldnt help with bailey but it would help keeping our team together ala the Eagles,Bucs, etc.I think that we would have kept a couple of up and coming players like Barber,Kalu,Thrash, etc. over the last couple of years and wouldnt have to turn over 1/3 or more of the roster each year.Thereby putting us in a better position to keep Bailey and others.

I'm of the opinion right now that Champ cares more about the money and would rather have it and play for the Cardinals or Bungles than to accept a more than fair offer and remain with a competitive team and help it grow and improve.

How can anyone say 14.75Million dollars is not enough? WTF is this world coming to?

Where did Dalton go to?

DOES CHAMP really care who he plays for???? Nope as long as it for $7.5 million/year for 5 year and a $18 signning bonus.

When you are talking that much money, I call it GREEDY!

Guys correct me if I'm wrong, but Gardner wasn't exactly gods gift to the Dline last year before the season was he? So how do we know no one will step up and take everyone by storm like he did?

gardner was good, but had a big history with injury and no one thought he could hold up, so we gambled and won big. His injury history made us scared to offer him all that money he wanted

Gardener was actually one of the main cogs of Miami's defense over the 5 years or so he was there. No Glover or Sapp quality though. He had some locker room/character flaws and frequent injuries that got him jettisoned. He was a short lived success story for the Skins FO. Unfortunately, no one with that potential currently is on the roster or within reach elsewhere.

espn reported that champ was offered a 7 year 55 mil offer with a large signing bonus. Champs agent said it was a "starting point". I love Champ, hate to see him in another uniform, but we have to think of the welfare of the team here. That is not an insult of an offer.
