Bunting will not be back next year! Now I just hope Dick Baddour doesn't screw up the search for a new HC.

John Bunting will not return as head coach of the University of North Carolina football program in 2007, Director of Athletics Dick Baddour announced this evening. Bunting, a 1972 UNC graduate, is in his sixth year as the Tar Heels' head coach. Bunting will continue to coach the Tar Heels through the rest of this season.

That is great news but we all knew it was coming.
That being said, you scared me when I read the first line in your post.
You said Bunting will be back, thankfully that was a misprint.

Are we bringing back Dick Crum?

Sweet! lol
really....lol
I'd love to see Butch Davis get the job. Well, want the job...I've read rumors where Rich Rodriguez [?] of WVU is interested. Which I think he's trying Beamer us. Why would he be interested in the UNC job when he's an alumni of WVU and has them in the top 10? I don't see why he'd leave his alma mater for another job unless $$$ is the reason.

UNC football + way too many teams and a meaningless way of having an overall champ has dulled me to the sport. If Carolina can get better though it may spark my interest :)

Rodriguez would definitely be Beamering us, I'd love to have him but I don't think it's realistic.
Hire Butch Davis and do it rather quickly, he is the man we need.
Roy and Butch together could do some special things.

No kidding! Would Butch be using us as a stepping stone for a better job? Kinda like Mack Brown did?

Its a shame the Bunting era didn't work out as planned. At first; I thought he was really turning things around....but he was plain average after his first season.
At least you can say UNC gave him enough time to do what was needed. Too often coaches are chopped after one bad season. But he was given several mulligans...
That being said; this season is Al Groh's mulligan. Next year he turns it around or UVA will be on a coaching search 12 months from now.

UVA will be okay once your QB gets some more experience. Groh will be okay.

Maybe, I mean you never know.
But I'll take my chances, I mean we have great facilities in place, there is no reason why we can't be good at football.
It would be my hope that a coach wouldn't have the mindset of having to play second fiddle to Roy, hopefully he would come here with the mindset of teaming up with Roy to make UNC a special place.
When we are good at football, Kenan is rocking. I was at the Miami game a couple of years ago, we can make that a hard place to play but we need good football for that to happen.
Btw, there is an update on Davis on CB this morning, kind of surprising news if you ask me.

Yeah, I read that already. Very surprising. I was also surprised to hear that Davis is an alumni of Arkansas. I was wondering why Arkansas was ready to get rid of their coach. I read where they were interested in Butch coming there before they went on a 6 game winning strkeak.

I'm just excited by the fact that the administration is committed to getting it right this time, the money they are throwing around tells me we are going to do everything in our power to make football good here again.
Even if we don't land Butch, that is exciting.

10 years, 2.2 million per year could definately draw some interest, that's for sure. If those figures are correct.
