They just said on MNF, Ruptured Achilles. They didn't say out for the year, but they said surgery, I assume it must be a season ender.

Sorry to hear that.
As I'm watching the game tonight, I really wish we still had Antonio Pierce. I like his attitude. We need playmakers with positive attitudes on D. Emphasis on playmakers.

Well i think it could be curtains for the former Redskin as he ruptured his Achilles tendon tonight against dallass, i figured i would post this for all the former fans of a guy that was a great redskin for four years
GOOD LUCK LAVAR, keep your head up:cry:

Too bad. I don't wish injury on anyone. Hope he comes back so that he can under-produce for the giants for many years to come.

(Getting rid of Pierce was by far the biggest mistake the Gibbs regime has made!)
I felt bad for Arrington, he was finally playing good. You could just see the frustration after he went down, he knew he was done.

Moved and merged.
Sad for LaVar, I would rather have had a chance to beat him on the field. I wish him well in his rehab.

I really was a big LaVar supporter until he started whine and moan. He went over to the dark side..
Whatever.. I wish him well.

Lavar might be done for longer, it took him forever to recover from a minor knee tear. This is a major leg injury and Jansen hasn't looked the same since tearing his. This might be it for Lavar, which is a shame.

The LLH prophecy lives on (well, except for MW's recent poor play).
Anyways, personally, I wish Lavar well. Injuries stink no matter who it happens to.

thats kind of a blow, ive been watching the game tonight, and lavar has made a few plays, like the safety for one, which he looked realll quick blowing through the line.
Feel very sorry for the guy. Hope he is able to play again.

hard to be explosive with that injury.. plus, his opposite achilles is inflamed as well, i believe

He was having his best game in a while too. Can't imagine how frustrating that must be, not to mention painful. Ever since watching that 1 scene in pet cemetery any achilles injury just makes me cringe.

I figured he was done after this year anyway. This is just the proverbial nail. Ive always loved Lavar and hope he does well in retirement.

Man as much as LaVar made me man with his comments on our head coach, I don't wish this on folks. Sorry to hear it. He was just starting to find his way back with his game too, with that big play tonight. Shame.

honestly, this was predictable.. he has been fighting achilles tendonitis since the preseason.. it was only a matter of time..

he has a really tough road back.. very tough for an explosive athlete.. and one who also has a bad knee as well...

as somebody who has ruptured their achilles, i can tell you that no matter how much time you take to recover, you will never get back to 100%

Tough break for a guy that's done great things.
Still, I can't but help to think that we dodged a bullet by letting him go.

I feel really bad for LaVar. After watching Takeo Spikes come back from his achilles, he hasn't been nearly the force he was before his injury. This really could be the beginning of the end for LaVar. I can't see him overcoming the mental aspects of all of his injuries. If he does come back, he will be too timid to play the style he wants to play.

Ditto. I ruptured my achilles too ... the 6 weeks post surgery were the worst.
I cannot believe Ronald Curry has had THREE achilles tendon ruptures!

Man I feel bad for Lavar, I hope he can fully recover from this.
It was pretty wierd how he ruptured it too, he was just back pedaling while being blocked. It didn't look that bad of an injury initially, I just hope this doesn't end his career.

how would sterioids help? they tend to cause more injuries than they heal

i do not believe it was an issue inhis case.. but you are correct, steroids are implicated in many tendon injuries..

Sounds like the tear isn't that bad, I keep reading he's likely out for the year, hopefully it's not that bad. I'll pray for him, I think he still has some great years ahead of him and I wish him the best. He's a good guy and football player

I thought steroids help your body heal more quickly. Oh well, that's why shally's the doctor.

That is a shame for LaVar. I feel bad for any athlete who suffers a devastating injury like that (with the possible exception of a certain WR in Dallas). Regardless of how he left town, he has never done anything evil here, never drove drunk, never punched out his teammates, and he certainly does not deserve to be injured. I feel bad for him, despite the fact that he is a Giant.

there are different types of steroids... the anabolic ones (which are banned) cause the body to build up rapidly. those are the ones implicated in tendon tears.
the antiinflammatory ones can be used to speed recovery- short term .. but cannot be used long term or they cause their own set of breakdown problems..

I echo this. I'm pretty indifferent about him, but injuries, especially ones like this are always sad to see. For what its worth, watching him lay Bledsoe out last night before he was injured was quite entertaining.

Myabe the time off will give his knees a real chance to heal, or maybe he will also get that microfracture surgery and will come back a new man. Although he is really going to have to be motivated if he is every going to come back, because right now he looks at least 10 pounds overweight. Lavar good luck to you.

that would be down from about 40 pounds overweight in the offseason..
