I forget what I gave him off hand, but I definately resigned him...I'm about to play week 17 of my first year (7-8 right now, lots of INTs thrown)...I do have some pro bowlers though.
Coles
Bailey
Smoot(leads league in INTS)
Jansen
Samuels
Bryan Johnson(no clue why he made it, he had like 5 carries all year...must be the 2 tds he had)
I have not missed all season with Hall, and he didn't make it.

I love the new owner mode it is awesome. I sim the games (most of them) as I love the franchise mode and getting to practice so I can take over at GM for Synder here in a few years:D

You don't? Part of the fun in making all of the decisions is playing it out on the field to see how it pans out IMO.

OK, that I don't do. Cause I almost always win, and I don't wanna know the outcome of every game.

Yea, but you can't take advantage of all the cool franchise stuff like that

I play the games, but i never save them. Either I quit before the game ends, or I complete the game, exit without saving, and reload my saved game. I like to leave it all up to my managing skills.

I do a lot of franchise mode myself. Some games i play some i simulate.I like to develop my players and run the FO.
Out of curiousity how man minutes per quater do you guys play?I use to play 8 minute quaters with 2003 but that seems like to long at the tempo of play for me with 2004.
TexSkin
08-24-2003, 09:16 PM
I play 5 min quarters but with the skins i play 8 to run up the score :D
NCskinsfanatic
08-24-2003, 09:19 PM
Im thinking of going with 6 or 7, 5 min seems a little short to me but 8 i score like 49+ every game.call me a realist i like to keep it close with the occasional blowout.

Playing the games? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of franchise mode?
And by the way, how old do you guys let your players get before letting them loose? I wait until 28. I trade them for younger players who play the same position. I like to trade all of my draft picks at the beginning of the year to a sub-par team. I get their draft picks. They will probably finish far worse than me.

I play three minute quarters, which still results in scores like 28-21. Otherwise the points just rack up too much and it doesn't feel real.

Well, I don't have Madden 2004 but I got NCAA 2004. Right now I'm playing in dynasty mode and I play 5 minute quarters. Just right for me. So far I'm 4-0 with Ohio State as my dynasty and I've only allowed 3 points total in the 4 games.

For those of you who own the game already, is Lavar in it? I have not played one game with Lavar. He was "#57" in Madden 2003. "#54" in NFL 2K2. They could at least get the number right!
TexSkin
08-25-2003, 02:18 PM
Its becuse when Lavar singed his rookie contract he did not give the NFL permission to use his Name. It is common for players to give the NFL permission but for some reason Lavar did not. Thats why you won't see anything that is NFL official with his name on it.

Thanks for the responses on playing time guys.Im thinking 5-6 minutes per quater for my taste tried 7 last night(still too much). Hey green is good LaVar is 51 on 2004.Rated 97 or 98 cant remember which right now.And i simulate alot in franchise but like to get in atleast 6-8 games per season myself. It also helps with player development offensively b/c i tend to rack upgreater #s than just simulating. However my tackles and sack 3s are less sometimes.

That was what I thought at first TexSkin, but in 2K2, they had his photo. And the pa announcer says his name after he makes a tackle.

08-25-2003, 03:34 PM
i think if u go to edit and put his name they say LaVar Arrington
JoeDaSchmoe
08-25-2003, 08:00 PM
Yeah, in Madden they have to keep him nameless and with a different number for legal reasons, but there's a nice little loophole. If you edit in his name (make sure to spell it correctly), they'll actually say it.

Why would LaVar not want to be in a video game? He gets paid, I presume. I would do it for free:D

From what I've heard, not as much as we would think.
Green-Is-Good
08-25-2003, 10:07 PM
Yeah, but it's still SOMETHING. I don't see any harm in being in a video game. The cover... well, that's a different story:D
JoeDaSchmoe
08-25-2003, 10:09 PM
Still, LaVar seems to be the type who'd love to see himself killing QBs on a TV screen when he's not doing it on the field....

I guess he prefers turning on sportscenter. I would love to be in a video game. Rob Johnson allows it for God's sake! If I were Rob Johnson, I would burn as many copies of that game as I could!

haven't got Madden 2004 yet...i do have NCAA, won the National Championship with Maryland in year 1, moved it up a level (to All-American), and i'm currently 1-1 with MD (lost to Penn State, damnit (5 turnovers will kill you), and beat Florida State).
I play 6 or 7 minute quarters, not because of score, but to keep up with the CPU in all the stat categories. 5 minutes quarters in year 1, my offense was ranked 107, yet I was #1 in points scored. I recruited a freshman QB, and I'm still getting used to him (much better arm than McBrien)...so hopefully I can get my ranking up. I declined a 5 year extension after last season, so we'll see...
I love franchise/dynasty modes and the offseason stuff...i usually dont play the playoffs and sim thru to get to the off season (in Madden, I play all games in NCAA). I can't wait to get my hands on Madden.
on the LaVar front, he didn't sign with the NFLPA because of money...i guess he didn't feel it was worth it. hopefully he'll sign sooner or later...i want a LaVar jersey, without having to pay an arm and leg for it.

BigDaddy, Does NCAA football 2004 have division 1-AA teams?

After going 8-8 in my first season of Madden, I"m 0-4 in year two...

08-27-2003, 04:02 PM
Were you in the post season last year as a wild card? Or even a division winner. In one season that I played, the entire AFC North went 6-10.
bfauble83
08-27-2003, 05:58 PM
No, missed the playoffs...I'm now 0-7...I play on pro level and have no idea why I cannot win...I just lost to Dallas on a missed field goal...(I was perfect on field goals my first year)...I just don't know why I cannot win a game...at the end of my first season they wanted me to relocate the team, this year they will probably force me to because fan support is way down...

What I heard somewhere was that before his father died he promised him that he wouldn't sell his name.
There really don't know if that's true at all but it sounds good :D

Well, I got my ESPN Football and played me a quickie game. Skins vs Bucs. It was a battle between the defenses and field goal kickers. Of course I'm leading with a little over a minute left and the bucs break out a big run on me. At the end of the play, he fumbles and I recover. I call a run play because there's less than a minute to go and I'm on my 5 yard line. Well, the game starts acting up because I couldn't snap the ball. The finally snapped and it reported that something is wrong with the CD, maybe it's dirty. I started laughing. Maybe the Skins weren't supposed to beat the returning SB Champions.
