Jeff Fisher to replace Gibbs? Puuuhhhhh-leeeze. That sounds like something out of the Weekly World News!

It's not SI, it's the Chicago Sun-Times.

Is Jerry Glanville still available? Maybe we can get him.

Jeff Fisher is a good coach, but that is silly. Even if the fan base revolts, this is Gibbs' team until he decides otherwise.

I know its SI reposting rumor mills from other news sources, but they come off as some dumbarses by posting that Jeff Fisher stuff IMO...

Gibbs has the job as long as he wants it, but if he left the Skins could do a lot worse than Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher. Both coaches will be in high demand if they hit the open market next season and I suspect they'd require The Li'l General to take a vow of silence on all personnel matters before accepting a coaching job in Washington.

this thread's title implies SI has some credibility to begin with. they do not.

I think that statement is assuming that Gibbs steps down after this year...and fisher would be brought in

Sonny Jurgenson actually brought up the whole Jeff Fisher thing LAST WEEK on local TV. I was going to post about it, but it just slipped my mind.
It's not that crazy, I'll tell you that, although I don't know what it means for Williams.
I will say this: Williams and Fisher are GREAT friends, and Williams has said, "I will coach with Jeff Fisher" again, or at least that's what I've been told.
I don't see Gibbs leaving after this year, but if he did, I would welcome Fisher in whatever capacity he came on board. Always liked him.

Didn't NFL Live purpose this rumor a couple of weeks ago? I thought this was old news. It was pure speculation then and it still is.

no way he would do that to his buddy GW..
on the other hand, if fisher decides he has had enough i could see GW getting the call in tennessee...
or if GW becomes head coach of the skins and fisher is available i could see jeff taking a year to decide upon his plans as def coordinator for the skins..especially if blache goes to chicago as def coord if rivera gets a head coaching position this off season..
fisher going to the cowboys is possible given jones penchant for the big splash also...

unless Gibbs has been starting at DT, DE or SS ... the shortfalls this season are not his fault

yes Fisher could be the next Redskin coach and there also may not be any snow up here in Canada this winter........Fact#1- Gibbs will finish out his 5 year contract barring death or serious illness. Fact #2- GW is next in line and I'm not talking Bush.

I would bet more likely Dallas than here just because I see Parcells leaving before Gibbs. Not even concerned in the least until Gibbs says bye bye.
