Comments from thenewspape rin New Orleans....

On the trade;

"It really hasn't sunk in yet," Chase said Wednesday afternoon after emptying his locker. "Being a part of this organization for the past three years has been great, and it's been a good opportunity for me. . . . I have an opportunity to start there. That's what you come into this league to do and make your dreams come true"

The Saints told the Redskins that Jackson and Smith were off limits and countered by asking for cornerback Fred Smoot, the Redskins' 2001 second-round pick.

Here is a comment on why they are getting rid of Dalton, this si from the Denver Post

"Dustin, you know the expression about cutting your losses? The Broncos already had paid Dalton the $3 million signing bonus. They were not getting it back. Nor were they interested in having him stick around to earn it. With Dalton scheduled to earn another $1.6 million in base salary this season, with other defensive linemen on the roster who were cheaper, with the Broncos having a glut of young players at the position, Denver figured it would be better off without Dalton."

I think Chase is a nice pickup. He's 6'2, 310 lbs., which means that another team must at least contemplate a double team when going towards him. He is not as technically sound as Big Daddy so he won't demand double teams every play. Honestly, I don't care who plays tackle as long as the job gets done. I would play Stalin and Pol Pot there if it meant the wild card.

Good idea to not trade Smoot. I still don't understand what happened with Dalton, though.

Yeah, supposedly they had a deal in place with another team. Nice try Broncos. Good thing the FO didn't trade Smoot.
