View Full Version : So, How Are We Feelin' About Saturday?

Let me just say that first and foremost, I hope that no one from either team suffers an injury. We've all had enough of those.

I'm a Ravens fan, so I'm expecting our first D to shut down the Skins, as they did the Bills and Falcons. If the Skins can get anything going against our first team D, that's a great sign for you guys, but I'll be surprised if it happens.

More interesting will be our woeful offense working against your defense. As usual, we couldn't score if we were chicks working at the Viagra factory. If our offense scores on you, you guys might want to start thinking about hockey season.

On another note, I visited DC (because I'm so jealous of its superiority) last night and had an excellent time at Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge out in Rockville. Check it out!

Hail to the Ravens !!

Hail to the Ravens? Man do the Ravens have to steal everything? Ok ok that was uncalled for sorry. :D

Ha !! Hey, we're just trying to borrow some tradition, you know, since we've only had football in Baltimore for a few years.

I'm sensing an undercurrent of doubt among the Redskins faithful about your team's chances. I was in here a week or two ago, and everyone was pretty cocky. Was it the Kornheiser column?

I've been saying for weeks that the Skins look pretty bad, but I'm a bit biased. Relax, the season will come soon enough and then we will all know what we've got.

I dont think there is an under current of doubt. I dont doubt this team can win and have a winnign season and i still think they have an outside shot at playoffs. I think there is concenr about the middle of the defensive line and rightfully so. BUT, it is importnat to remember, we have guys battling for thos etwo middle spots, two coudl step it up and prove that they can start int he NFL.

We are more upset about how the FO has handled the whole DT situation. I still think we can be a playoff type team we are just going to need some of these DL guys step up.

Well it seems to be true that while every team's fans are very confident of their team's chances at the beginning of the preseason, I think that most fans are worried toward the end of the preseason.

None of it will matter until we start. It certainly seems that Big Daddy would have done better to stay with you guys than go to the Lions. Maybe you'll get Dalton. He's a pretty good player. I know that the Ravens are also looking at him.

Here's my fearless prediction for the 2004 season. Champ Bailey will be a Raven and Chris McAlister will be a Redskin. You read it here first !

Yep, he's going to test the FA waters, and the Ravens are going to let McAlister do the same. Then again, I'm not sure the Skins won't slap the franchise tag on him, in which case their budding cap Hell won't allow them to sign anyone.

Hey, I just want to say that if the Skins kick our butts Saturday night, I'll be here Monday for some abuse. If we kick your butts, I'll do my best not to come here and gloat.

How about realizing that we don't really care about the score. All we want to see in consistent improvement through this preseason, something that has been stated time and time again throughout various threads in this forum.

Or better yet; how 'bout the fact that we don't care about the RAVENS, period. Let me clairify that. We barely care about them, certainly not to the extent that they care about us. Man, on Radio, on T.V. and in the newspapers, people around these parts are getting really fired up about this came against the "RIVAL" (where did they get that from) Redskins. In, D.C. however (and I just got back from D.C. this afternoon), it is just another game. Man, their HATRED for us is truly hilarious. I have been LMAO for the last 5 or 6 days now.

You are right 1906. Just another game around here. Maybe it would be different if it weren't a preseason game.

I personally I'm more excited about tailgating Saturday night then the game itself....

..............Well said!

On another note, for two days, am 1570 sports did a "Poll" on Baltimorians "Most Hated" team. The question included college, Professional (and even High School team). What team do you hate sooooo much, that you can't even watch them on T.V. What team to you hate sooooo much that you ALWAYS root against, etc.

OF COURSE, THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS WON HANDS DOWN!!!!!!! Second place went to the New York Yankees (understandable) and Third place went to the (Pittsburgh Steelers), followed by the Duke Blue Devils.

How a team that is not a regular opponet could "win" this contest is absolutely hilarious :D :D :D to me. I would say that this (once again) proves my "regional envy" and "inferiority complex" arguements, but I don't want to start another useless back-and-forth, tit-4-tat thang. I'll just leave it alone.

I will be surprised if the 'skins march down the field and score a TD on the crow's first team D. We just arent there yet. Any improvement on both sides of the ball what so ever is what I'm looking for.

I'm calling it right now. Lavernues Coles will beat Chris McAllister on a Post Route on the 3rd play of the game for a touchdown!
This time he won't trip over his own feet and he'll take it to the endzone. Also on the next series Chris McAllister will pick up an Pass Interference or Unneccessary Roughness penalty aganist Coles.

You heard it here first.

Wow, how can the Baltimore fans put so much stock in this game. It's a preseason game and come the 3rd and 4th quarter, we'll be watching 3rd stringers play. Anything can happen then. As we've stated over and over again, we just want to see improvement and consistency from our team. That's all.

I've told you non-listening fools time and time again about the nature of Ravens' fans hatred for the Skins, but some of you want to go with the self-serving theories about Municipal Inferiority Complex. If that were true, you Washingtonians would really hate the New York Giants. Oh wait, you do !

Here is the problem that you guys have. Your team isn't gelling yet. Fine, mine isn't necessarily there yet, either. But your owner has gone out and paid a large number of free agents a lot of money this off-season. Consequently, there is tremendous pressure on the Skins to win now, because a major salary cap roster purge is coming soon to a stadium near you.

I'm sure it's not great hearing this from a fan of another team, but you do realize all of this, right?

I agree with all of you, by the way, that the final score doesn't matter. What does matter is how the respective first teams play against each other, especially here in the third game.

Don't know about that even, BECAUSE they are (at least SS) is not installing in a real game plan. The first unit is getting reps and working on timing. We are actually playing for Sept 4 and working on things for that game. This is no more than a glorified scrimage (as are all preseason games).

I can understand your concern as a Ravens Fan though. The Ravens have still been listed as a 3 pt underdog. (So I guess that means Morton runs the openning KO down to the twenty. Hall boots a 35 yard FG and we all go home happy! - WORKS FOR ME)

I HATE PRESEASON!!!!!

As much as I hate the Ravens I have to respect their D. This will be a good test for our RB's. I hope thats Spurriers plan. I don't want to see Ramsey throw too much against this group and get killed. Espcially with a rookie (Dockery) in the lineup.

Ed Poe

Patrick,

With the way our special teams have been playing, that's entirely possible. Believe me, I'm not overstating the importance of pre-season, but if your team's first string gets the snot knocked out of them, it's small comfort that the entire playbook wasn't revealed. Neither was the other team's.

Mostly, let's just get through it without any broken legs this week.

Is there some kind of fool detection test that screens them out when they sign up?

Relax, dude. I am simply weary of that tired theory that Baltimore fans hate the Skins because we wish our city was all shiny 'n stuff like Washington. It's simply not the case. We hate the Skins because they were forced down our throats when the Colts left for Indiana.

It wasn't the Skins' faults, but that's why the hatred exists. Believe me, if and when you guys get a baseball team, you will understand.

That's my point, Patrick. You don't have much choice but to follow the Orioles now, but once you get your own team, you'll hate the Orioles.

That's why so many Baltimore folks hate the Skins.

Patrick
08-22-2003, 10:01 AM
Funny thing about that - I've come to enjoy the Orioles and could even consider myself a fan. If Washington were to get a team it would probably be a National League one. WHY would I hate the Orioles? Same goes with the Skins and Ravens? I never understood that BUT the fans in Baltimore seem to make such a big deal. Sure there are a few Skins fans that may hate the Ravens (and you'll have that in every NFL town) but for the most part, I really don't think Skin's fan really care or concern themselves with it. It's just another game. ....

If you refer to someone else as a non-listening fool your time here will be short lived. We allow you the vistor to post your thoughts freely since we enjoy the perspective from the opposing fan, but you will not talk to any Skins fan here in such away. Save that for your own Ravens brethren.

Yeah, POE, and I have to YOU time and time again of the "nature" of the Raven fan HATRED for the REDSKINS, but you want to go with YOUR "self serving" theories about the "true" reasons why you guys hate us sooo much. I have been trying not to go here, but you will not misrepresent your fans on THIS site. As I have stated time and time again, EVEN 1570 AM SPORTS "ADMITS" THIS ON THE AIR!!!!! We can go toe to toe until we all get blue in the face, but REALITY is what it is. Anytime your fans hate us more than YOUR OWN DIVISIONAL RIVALS................then the problem is a deep-rooted one that has to do with many issues, (Municpal) self-esteem being one of them.

Oh, by the way, we hate the New York Giants because THEY ARE OUR DIVISIONAL RIVALS, PERIOD. Not because of an "inferiority" complex that D.C. has. The last time I checked, D.C., Not New York.........................IS THE NATIONS CAPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the Post:

"No question, this means more to us than to them," said Ravens left tackle Jonathan Ogden, a District native who was raised a Redskins fan. "Growing up there, people in Washington don't really respect Baltimore sports; Baltimore always felt secondary. Now, things are evening up, given that we're better. This game means so much to the Baltimore fans."

Pretty much says what we Skins fans have been saying. Someone should tell that non-listening fool Ogden to shut up...

i dont see this as another game. every other pre-season game, i would just brush off an interception or a TD given up by the defense. but in this game, i hope for above all, no injuries, more improvement from my team and last for the skins to actually take it to the ravens. you guys dont understand how many arguments i have gotten into with some really ignorant ravens fans, they are so funny. give it up ed poe, even a player from your own team admitted the whole inferior complex thing, you lose that argument. ogden does need to shut his mouth with that "us being the better team" comment though. here's to good health for both teams and a waxing of the raisins!
