Alright guys, I'm back after having no computer for 3 monthes!!!!
Figured since I haven't been able to vent my opinions on you guys for about 90 days I'd give you a nice rundown on my thoughts from the skins.
And here we go................
I said before I left and I still believe that CHAD MORTON should be starting at HB. He's looked good thus far and has atleast played as well if not better then Trung. I think Trung should be cut from the team and the 3 HBs remaining would be Morton, Watson, and Betts. Trung makes the most since to cut since we can release him with no penalty whatsoever. Watson has clearly shown he deserves to stay on the roster and Betts is promising and the only thing we have CLOSE to a power back (which is really sad).
I am a firm believer in using the franchise tag when necessary and I have come to the conclusion that the tag will be used on Champ after this season. This is good and bad. It hurts our cap greatly and likely causes some bad feelings between the team and Champ. But also if someone wants to offer Champ a monsterous contract which isn't out of the question we can pick up 2 first rounders. Which would extremely useful when the cap hit takes place in around 4 years to replace some guys which will be surely gone (Trotter, Upshaw, Wynn, Fiore, Gardner). I always believed that you don't let franchise players walk but in the case of Champ looking down the road in 3-4 years it might be better for the team if someone signed him after we franchised him.
I've been recently blasted by all of my non-skin friends for how horrible the skins are looking this preseason. And unfortunatly they are right, the team has looked absolutely awful on both sides of the ball with few bright spots. But remember last preseason we blew every to bits and then got destroyed by NO, GB, and 49ers. Perhaps we'll do the same to some people this year.
I know losing Big Daddy hurt the defense but I am truely glad he's gone. It became clear he wanted to be released and was daring the coaching staff to do so. I doubt he would have made it the whole season anyhow. Yea the run defense will suffer but this guy wasn't as big of a difference maker as everyone makes him appear. He probably was the best of a sorry group and is a career underachiever who didn't deserve the salary he was making. So I'm glad he's gone.
Ramsey is scaring me. I've heard how fantastic he's looked in Camp but I just get the feeling he's in for a rocky year. I don't think he'll be benched but I think he's in for some rough games and if the running game isn't there he could have a LONG season.
The Running Game must be SOLID this year or the team will not win. We already know every team in the league will be looking to pound us up the middle when we play them. That'll wear out our defense. So if the Offense isn't able to control the clock were not going to win many games and our defense will be dead by the 2nd half.
Thats just a few of my thoughts. I'll be around more now that I have a Computer again.
