And he can have him! For the low, low price of Arizona's first rounder.

???

Depending on how this would impact the cap, I'd take a seventh rounder and a bag of practice balls.

But why is this not tampering? Or is this just assumptions made by media types??

id take a 4th for him.he cost way 2 much against the cap

Just take him, pay his salary, and he's yours. Unless of course, you want to give us Adrian Wilson. That would be sweet.

For the cap hit we'd take, a 7th would be absurd.

This is why Martz only coaches offense and probably should never be a head coach again.

I am hoping the signing bonus was tiered in such a way that it wouldn't be a killer hit. Either way, I have not been impressed with AA at all.

I want to keep Arch. He can play LB and be quite good at it.

No, the hit will be 3-4 mil.

Oh really? For that contract, that's pretty good.

Just say no to drugs.

I will give them Archuletta and Duckett for a 7th rounder. I will then go play racquetball with my boss.

If they are offering anywhere from a 3rd to 5th round we woudl be fools not to take it. Then again when it comes to the offseason I suppose we are fools.

Why would the Cards need another SS that can't cover? They already have Wilson. Secondly, I doubt Martz knows who Arch is, in fact, I doubt he knows a single player he's coached besides his ex-recievers and QBs.

We can not afford a hit of 3-4 million. It is a close call year next year as it is and may require some restructuring. Plus if Brunell retires in frustration we could get a hit there as well.

Arch is here for 3 years, whether we like it or not, unless he gives back some of his SB ala Lavar, but this is not one of those situations.

So does Brunell retiring amount to us cutting him cap-wise?

Where have you ever seen a 6 foot, 220 pound LB?

24 of his 30 million in is base salary from 2009-2012. Give Gibbs some credit.

I don't think Gibbs is very much invoved in the numbers, Akh. I'm the first to slam Danny and Vinny for their conga line of stupid moves, but you have to give them credit for knowing how to structure a contract. We're not screwed until we inexplicably decide to keep AA on the roster next year, lol.

currently, according to the chart, if the'd part with a #4 we'd get 112 points for arch, I'd package that with our #4 (now valued at 96 points) and get thier #3 Pick. Totaling 208 points. I know the 1st pick in the 3rd round is 265. Since we take the cap hit, then that should sffice for the remaining points. Then we'd have another ist day pick

...Currently I don't care about the cap since we always seem to get around it....IMO. And since they seem to throw money away anyway what sould it hurt..at this point...

He would only cost about 600k-1 million to keep around, but the skins would save some dead money when they cut him.

Isn't Eric Schaeffer the guy who draws up these genius contracts?

Btw, Joe Gibbs is my hero. I give him all the credit in the world.

Nick barnett- 6-2 232.
Derrick brooks 6-0 235
Ian Gold- 6-0 222
Mike Petersen 6-1 232
Zach Thomas 5-11 228

NFL.com stats.

Arch- 6-0 223...

I only looked at a few. Some were obviously bigger but it could be done.

Serious questions:

If AA plays in a limited role for the rest of the season, what are the chances that we'll actually cut him? Also, I cannot believe that we would try and re-sign Duckett over Betts. What are our options with Duckett if we don't re-sign?

I say get what you can and sign duckett...IMO..too much wasted time with betts IMO.

Arch could be our next strong side linebacker. When arch plays he plays like a LB only further off the line. I dont think it would be a hard switch.

Pros and cons with them both actually. Betts is a heck of alot better receiver than Duckett, but Duckett is considerably harder to bring down as a runner. I am more apt to resign Duckett personally because the combination of Portis/Duckett would be a better combo than Portis/Betts. Portis/Duckett is a much better change of pace than with Betts.

I was going to ask the same thing. How can Martz, an assistant coach under contract with another team, be talking about coaching a team he doesn't have yet and that currently has a coach, and a player that is also under contract with another team? I want to see some evidence.

I would also take a 7th rounder for Arch
He has been awful and losing him would relieve our cap space
Not to mention, a lot of impact players fall to the 7th round (Colston, anyone?)
