Whenever you read a story in the news about a suspect being taken into custody regarding a crime, they always use the word "alleged" as in the alledged suspect. This is based off the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
I was reading the Times article (http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030821-114545-7681r.htm) on the capture of 'Chemical Ali' and they had this to say about Iraq's Alleged WMD program:
The capture could provide coalition forces with new information about Iraq's hidden weapons of mass destruction and about the organized resistance to the U.S. and allied troops in Iraq.
Please note that nowhere in that quote does it say "Iraq's ALLEGED hidden weapons of mass destruction", just that they are hidden. I get the impression reading this article that the Times believes Iraq has WMD and that they are hidden and they hope through interrogation of Ali that some insight may be found as to the location of the hidden WMD.
Why would a major National Newspaper write an article about a weapons program that they can't even prove exists? HHmmmmm?
Can anyone tell me what large Right Wing news company owns the Times? They need to be called and told that Iraq has no WMD. Their research is sorely lacking credentials of any kind I would say.
