Just another reason to look back at this season and cringe at what could have been. Hell, if we had only two more wins this year, we would be breathing down the Giant's neck and looking to make a run at it.
So damn disheartening.
Well, sorry McNabb.

just cannot really look at it that way.. again, we have transitioned to the future and our draft and post season will have to be re tooling the defense..

might have something to do with his outside football investments.. hard to imagine that this helps him sell more clothes.
he could end up playing because he needs the money
also, it has taken palmer much of the year to even begin to get his throwing motion back.. even he said he was tentative
i doubt mcnabb will be fully recovered by the start of next year..

Well the Daunte Culpepper experiment is any indication I think the Iggles will take their time with Donna. I know that Culpepper's injury essentially reduced his knee to spaghetti-Os but even Andy Reid said the recovery time is 8 mnths to a year. So I do not expect McNabb to even start practicing full speed till into the season and not start a game until nearly midway (hopefully we get to play him on his first game back ... I would love to welcome him back by beating him by 28)

I would rather we voluntarily drop to 32nd than see Dallass ahead of us in the standings.

OT: Honestly, outside of the 2 remaining division games which I would prefer to win just because, I really don't care if we win or lose the remaining games. the only thing I care about is Campbell. And besides, would you rather finish 5-11 and have say, the 5th pick, or 7-9 and have the 15th pick?
Regarding McNabb, I'm sorry for him because he's a good guy and we aren't competitive anyways so his injury is "useless" to us, and because Dallas right now has a great chance to win the division, which always sucks.

that would be a killer for them... if he cannot get the broncos over the top with a rushing attack, what is he gonna do in philly?
they will look for a back up, but will draft for the future.. also, feely will get a long look this season

Anyone else think McNabb's injury-plagued career might be the byproduct of Reid's 80-20 pass-run ratio? It give McNabb more chances to be injured than just about any other QB in the league.

To back up your point, below is from Peter King's mailbag online today.
THE EAGLES NEED TO RUN MORE. From Thomas Madison of Memphis, Tenn.: "It is maddening that everyone is talking about how injury prone Donovan McNabb is without talking about why he is so injury-prone: THE TEAM HAS NEVER HAD A RUNNING GAME! McNabb tore his ACL because he was running for his life against a team with one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL, Tennessee. The Titans knew Philadelphia was no threat to run the ball so they blitzed him all day. Every year Philadelphia uses high draft picks and huge free-agent contracts to bring in all these linemen, it is as if BYU product Reid is trying to prove that you don't need tailbacks in the NFL.''
This is the one personnel thing I fault the Eagles for over the years. They have, as you say, devalued the franchise back in their thought process. Imagine this year if they'd taken Laurence Maroney with their first pick. He'd fit their team a lot better, in my opinion, than Brodrick Bunkley.

reid has said feely will get a long look this year. garcia is 37 or 38 so there is no way they want to go into next season with him as starter. mcmahon was a disaster. detmer is gone. they remember feely fondly for the job he did in year's past so he at least knows the system.
they will draft a qb very early this off season

and when they traded up in the first round a couple of years ago, i thought they were going after stephen jackson.. instead they took andrews, who is turning into a fine lineman for them, but jackson would have brought a whole different dimension to their offense.
they have a perpetual blind spot..
and what makes it worse is that because it is late in the year, mcnabb is not going to be fully ready for much of next year, even if he does come back well

yes and no... he is the face of their franchise for certain, but the weight of failures to win it all are getting heavier. plus, this is 2 straight injury ended seasons.
and his contract is not a small one.
if reid goes, i could easily see the next coach moving on to his own guy..

I know we are almost mathematicly eliminated, but we are not. Mcnabb is gone so the Eagles are done. The Giants are not doing to good. The Cowboys have a 1-3 divison record. We are tied with Cowboys 1-1 series this year. So somehow if we miraculously win out  and the cowboys go 3-4 the last 7games (last year they were 7-3 they ended up 9-7:lol1: ). We also need the Eagles and the Giants to keep struggleing. If all these circumstanes occur. (Probably not) we have a slim hope for a 6 seed.

I am still hoping for this
Our D needs to step it up though. I really don't think this is an issue of them lacking talent, either.
But if we manage to go on a miraculous six game winning streak, and finish 9-7, if we made the playoffs we would probably be the 6th seed. And Dallass could very well be the 3rd seed. I can always dream, can't I? :banghead: :devil2:
