Our first two games' starters are injured and out.

If I am Collins, I am sleeping in a bubble so to speak. :)

Think he will be out in week 10? I could use Vinny in the fantasy league...

at this pace, we should be 2-0

I don't want to see Chad hurt. I hope he can play, I'd like to beat the Jets without any help from injuries.

He might miss a few weeks, but it's his left hand, so it shouldn't be that bad.

I don't think theres a drop off from Pennington to Testaverde anyways. Either one will be a tough competitor...

Looks like Vinny T. will get those 40,000 yards now, eh?

I dont wish any injuries on any players..well maybe a few dallas players I really hate but still I like the Jets and this sucks fo them. :(

Yup it's true! Fracture/dislocation of his left wrist, non throwing hand.:( :( Initial speculation is that Pennigton will be out 6-8 weeks. Only consolation is that there is 1 preseason game left and that the Jets have a bye in week 5. Further updates will be available after surgery. Alot of Jet fans just threw in the towel on the season tonight!:(

Damn, I wanted to beat them with all their players. Now if we win they'll be that asterisk there. Pennington was playing. Oh well. Vinny T is a good QB so they're not missing much (that's not a dis on Pennington, just give props to Vinny).

I think he will be out longer then they are saying... surgery usually takes alot out of a guy.

On the other hand... Vinny is no slouch.

Specualtion is he's done for the yera and that is what I orignally feared last night. Just listening to Herm's PC on the way home made me feel that way b/c he was very agitated and even snapped at a reporter and he NEVER does that plus in describing his injury he said he didn't want to get into it but it was "freddy Kruger like"- that's not good.

This i sickening and frustrating. We lost a great opportunity in '99 after Vinny went down and another great opportunity may be lost but I still have confidence in Vinny just not as much as Chad.

Hopefully we get word it's only 6-8 weeks but I fear the worst.

Jets fans, I wouldn't throw in the towell just yet. Vinny is a very nice back up to have around. Heck, even though he's 40, he could still start for a lot of teams. I know of one in the NFC East. (Dallas) You guys shouldn't lose faith just because of one player. If your team keeps the fight up, you guys should too.

Don't be to quick to ditch the season. I know its easy to do right now. But guys, its only August. Theres a whole season to be played......

Jets fans shouldn't be too worried. Vinny Testaverde can still play & help them win.

The NFl is a tough league, you take every win you can get. If you beat us there will be no asterisk. I still fully expect to walk out of FedEx a week from Thursday w/ a victory.

Well hopefully you will be let down;) In all seriousness though, hope Chad makes a speedy recovery.Vinnys decent but they benched him for a reason too.And yes Dallas would love to have him but then again when the big Q is your starter theres no where to go but up.

Jimmy V was a favorite of mine. Hated to see what he had to go thru in the last months of his life. But, he has made a BIG difference. My mother is fighting breast cancer right now.

Anyways though, basketball will be back to the powers that we're use to this year.

Vinny threw for 500 yards in four games last year. I really admire the guy, but there's not much left in the tank.

Good luck to your mom with her fight. My family will say a prayer for her.I lost my grandmother(who practically raised me)to breast cancer when i was only 12.His foundation has raised awareness and like Jimmy V says we cant ever give up!Thats also my motto for pulling for the skins and they wolfback over the last few years on a lighter note. ;)

He doesn't, he gets feisty but never demeans anybody and he had a Parcells-like PC last night w/ his sarcasm towards reporters.

You guys should be a top 10 type team in FB but I guarantee a sweep in BB. What was Josh powell thinking?

The beginning of last season was not Vinny's fault. He had no chance, the OL was badly banged up and so was Curtis so he had no pass protection and no running game plus the D was awful early and coouldn't get off the field. W/ an improved OL and running game Vinny will look much better. He's not nearly as good as Chad at this point but he's still a competent QB we can win w/.

But he is old and prone to injury...hope you got a good 3rd string guy.

NCskinsfanatic

I agree with Texskin on the depth at QB.Whos 3rd the rookie from Wisconsin?Vinny will be decent if he stays upright.

JoeDaSchmoe

They do have a good third stringer, actually. Brooks Bollinger. Kid's looked good so far. I liked watching the deul between him and Simms in the America Bowl.

nyjunc

Brooks has looked good but he is nowhere near ready to step on an NFL field during a reg season game. They will definitely sign a vet backup, I'm not sure who but they will.

CarMike - our prayers to your Mom - I hope she keeps her strength and finds the will and the best medical help to overcome this nasty disease.

Like a lot of us, I am sorry for Penningtons injury, wish him well, and hope he recovers soon. I will miss seeing him in our opener. I was realy looking forward to that game as a true test of where the Team will be going. Hopefully, Vinny will provide a good test for our defense!
