"We just came out and handled our business," said Redskins cornerback Champ Bailey. "We know how great that [Ravens] defense is known to be. They talk a lot of smack, but we saw who was the best in this game."

I've neve seen Champ talk smack. I love it.

Sounds good to me. I have never heard him talk like that either. But its good to know that he has it in him.

He's probably tired of all the talk about the Ravens D. We do have a pretty good D ourselves when they play up to their potential.

I just think Champ is excited and showing some Swagger. Now with D. Green being gone I think he will come out of his shell and become a leader...... (for the D Backs of course....) cause no one talks more and backs it up (which excludes Smoot) than Lavar Arrington.

Personally I like it.. I beleive the only proble Champ has ever had is he isn't aggressive enough

Excellent point LuvSkins. I hadn't thought about that twist with D. Green. Perhaps Champ is prepared to become the leader on the D.....it'll be hard though since it seems that Lavar may already have the lead in that department...

Lavar and Smoot can talk all the smack they like............ let the $$$$$ dictate who the leader is. All this money that we are gonna throw at this guy, that he has well earned, also shows leadership.

If you recall, Smoot came out in the draft talking about how excited he was to be able to play with Deion and when Deion left the team because of Shotty Smoot said even though he doen't get to play with his idol, he still gets to learn from D. Green who is Redskins legend.
Sounds like Smoot was a bit confused huh......

D. Green never took anyones head off but other teams discussed him more than we did. They had to or else they would have always threw the ball in his area. D. Green was old school and he did his job quietly. Champ has done well to be under that mentorship for this long. Being able to play with D. Green planted the seed for On and Off the field Gentlemanship. He will come out this season demanding more money and displaying his own personality on the field.

Did I say I liked it?

Sorry, I LOVE IT!!!!!

LaVar's the defensive leader, no question. Champ will probably step up a bit, though. And Richard, you're right about him needing to be more aggressive, but he was really hunting last night.

Champ has alot of pride and maybe getting paid he will be one of those who goes out and tries to prove what he is worth

Maybe Champ wants to give the media something to ask him about other than money

Good point Skins57. My question would be "Why don't you wrap up players when you're tackling them?".

Ken Harvey did mention the fact that corners love to tackle with their shoulder.

Is Fred Smoot's tackling getting worse? Man he look awful so far this preseason. he talked about getting stronger but he can't seem to get to the ballcarrier to use the strenght. It did seem as if Champ was going for big hits last night.

champs agent probably told him Snyder likes loudmouths so he better get to yappin if he wants a 20 million signing bonus.

I thought the Ravens defense played pretty well considering the positions their offense and special teams kept putting them in. The Ravens defense was on the field practically the entire first half. Ray Lewis looks like he is back to his old self; maybe better. Quarterbacking is going to hurt that team this year, but they've got a whale of a defense, much better than ours.

Some of the most gifted corners tend to be the worst tacklers. Because they were always superior to everyone before the NFL level, they always got by without having to learn the fundamentals of wrapping up when you make a tackle.

let us not forget that if we dont resign champ soon, he may use this year to audition for other teams to get the $$$$$. that is why we need him to get resigned now, only problem would he still play at THAT level if we did???

Talking seems to be one of the prerequisites to get into the HOF nowadays anyway. It is often brought up as a reason Monk is not yet in the hall, that he never talked to the media. I think Champ's play would overrule his lack of talk early in his career but it is good to see him with some soundbites.

I think that is an excellent point.

I thought there was a recent article that Champ wanted to become a household name. He understands that he has only one of the 3 T's to get there. He has Talent, he now needs to add Team (as in a winning ballclub), and Talk (as in some soundbites). Why not, its Champ's world, we're just living in it.
