The Chicago Bears have announced the release of P Brooks Barnard.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun Times, reports Chicago Bears rookie P Brooks Barnard has been very impressive during camp. It is unlikely Barnard will beat out P Brad Maynard, however Barnard has been impressive enough that another team seeking an upgrade at punter may pick him up.

I know plenty of you guys are happy with Barker, but how would you guys like to have a local guy come back to punt for the Skins?

I'm sorry to hear that. He went to my high school as well as my college, and he was having an excellent pre-season. Additionally, he is a good backup kickoff man and he can kick field goals. Not too shaby of a pick-up for whoever gets him.

Gotcha.

I don't know what to make of Barker right now, but if I were Snyder, I'd make sure to have a few punters' numbers on speed dial this season.

i still say bring in the local boy. if anything cant you put him on the practice squad as well??????? i know that would take up a space but i think it would keep barker on his toes a little more like he is right now, knowing that his replacement is still with the team??? what says ya'll to that idea???

Why you crimping our style, PSF?

Brett A posted that Groom was released as well. That is both punters that we were supposedly targeting pre draft.

MAN - That is a no brainer. Pick the kid up, let him compete ........ Personally, Barker is too inconsistent for me - it's seem like every punt is an adventure.
