There was a pipeline problem in Arizona and that caused prices to spike in the southwest. There are a number of reasons for the rising gas prices. One of the reasons is that it is a seller's market in the summer when many people drive to and from vacation. They're going to buy no matter what the cost so prices tend to go up then.

I heard it something to do with the UN bombing....
Its rediculious how they have you. They know you need gas and you'll be willing to pay for it. That really gripes me....

Time to break out the electrical vehicles. I saw several in L.A. the last time I was there. They even have recharging areas throughout the city. Of course you can't use them to go on vacation.

I hate Opec and I hate how there has been no other solid affordable alternative to fossile fuels. :(

A gallon is 2.2 liters.
Tex, you can always just get one of those engines that's powered by a treadmill with someone on it. Just put Mark on there and dangle a Hooked on Phonics book a few feet in front of him. ;)

the pipeline in AZ busting is the root of the problem...gas in the East is being shipped out West until the pipeline is fixed...they said several weeks for the line to be patched up...
so look for stead high prices until then...

I pay $1.69 (well I don't pay it, my work does) for my truck. I live in the southwest, and we seem to have the lowest around.
What all are you guys paying per gallon in the cities?
