Good to hear some positivity prior to the season opener. I believe this game was really important to our fragile young team.

Champ says he believe he and Smoot are the best in the league. Boy, there are comments coming from him that I just didn't expect.

Yep - I agree with them all.
One thing though - SS attitude, IS it me, or does it seem like he's a little bitter right now.

I think some of his comments are biting, but they are probably in response to his team being dissed no matter what they do. He didn't have to go through the Official Skins Media Bias when he was down in Gainesville. It's probably wearing on him, which is good since it will serve as motivator for him I believe.

I do agree with Kenny. It's like he has no patience for the media. He'll usually start answering before the question is finished and I noticed after the game he answered one question and started walking away.

OK, so I did sense something in his demeanor, maybe its not bitterness but there is definitely something different about his attitude towards the media this year.

It's called a reality check Patrick. Last year he was reminded of where he came from and how he started. He can be the most popular coach, with the biggest stadium but that doesn't lure the best players in the pros.
I honestly don't think he likes the taste of "crow". He seems like the type that loves to walk the walk and talk the talk but he has to take care of his business first. When we are ready..... we will know by how cocky our coach gets. It's in his bones but we won't see it until he knows the team and coaches can back it up. We are on the right path though.

On containing Baltimore's receivers:
"If you look at myself and Fred Smoot, I think we're the top two in the league. No one can touch us right now. That's just the way I feel. Teams are going to have run the ball against us because their receivers will be covered most of the time."
I love this swagger emerging in Champ right now. I think it's a great motviator for our defense and the rest of the team. It's almost like he's daring the other teams to throw to him and prove him wrong.
