Cloman is a bit of a surprise but not a huge one IMO.

I think that Flowers will most likely end up on the practice squad. Cloman may get picked up by another team, depends on how closely they have scouted the Skins in the second half of the first two preseason games. I pray that Elisara gets cut, he probably won't though cause the roster does not have that many backup tackles. Dockery and Fiore can step out if need be. Let's not get started on Danny Woefull. We could be here all day.

Yep - I had a bad feeling for Cloeman when he dropped two passes Saturday night. Too bad, I liked his attitude.

Yeah, I found Cloman being cut this early a small surprise as well. Guys need to know that if their down there in the depth chart, then ST is the way to go to make the team.

Damn, I was pulling for Cloman too.

Cloman was always a longshot. There must be a reason he is 27 years old and has never stuck on a team.

Flowers is no longer eligible for practice squad duty. Plus, there is still Woodcock to think about. He'll prob'ly be parctice squad

I was just about to point that out. If anything I think they will try to bring Cloman back for a PS spot.

Patrick Johnson looked good in ST coverage vs. Baltimore. That spelled the end of the road for scrapheap guys like Flowers and Cloman.

Cut thus far:

OG Rod Jones
OG Tre Johnson,
WR Scott Cloman
WR Richmond Flowers
P David Leaverton

The job is now Barker's for keeps.

Add to that WR Sean Dillard, DE Nic Clemons, LB Shamar Finney, and FB Thad Buttone

What a bust Rod Jones was. And not the good kind of bust. None of the guys cut today is a good candidate for the practice squad. Those guys are usually taken from the final cuts.

So you think Hadman is PS fodder?

The Gibber? [Let's win one for the Gibber!] I don't know. Spurrier has said a lot of nice things about him, but to me he just looks like a big guy who doesn't know where to throw the ball. I suppose if Gibber has shown Spurrier enough in practice, he might make the practice squad. I get the feeling Spurrier likes to have a young kid to develop. It's a shame that kid wasn't Sage Rosenfels.

Yeah Sage showed some real potential...How did Danny look in the Ravens game?

:lol1: You may have tied the R. Kelley comment in the other thread for line of the day.

Jones was a disaster for the Skins. What a joker. Never played a damned down. I'm glad they moved on with the O Line plans without waiting and hoping that he came around and would contribute.

Thanks, Hailyeah. I agree with you about Jones.
Tex, I didn't see Wuerffel in the Ravens game. I watched the whole thing, but if Wuerffel was put in I might have assumed I was asleep and re-living a nightmare from last year. Ramsey looked pretty good [still looks raw to me, though] and Johnson looked decent. The Ravens play defense very well, but their offense is well, offensive.

Very true...

If anything, P. Johnson's ST performances got him through this round of cuts. His fumble recovery on Saturday, IMO, was simply a make-good for his fumble on Special Teams. He is back in the mix...for now.

I know Russell won't get cut...but he really needs to start running his routes better. He looked like crap in the Ravens game. At worst case, I could see him getting minimal playing time until he proves himself.

I'm glad DMC got himself some playing time. He made a dazzling 24 yard catch late in the game. He is also hanging in there for the 4/5/6 spot.

I'm just wondering if McCants can make plays in punt and kick coverages at that 5/6 spot. Is anyone thinking that Woodcock might get that last spot if he's declared a superior ST guy? I don't think its out of the realm of possibility. When Is McCants going to see the field on offense? Unless Russell slips and slides backwards here. I hope not.

Brett

That's okay the karaoke scene isn't that great in DC.

I laughed my a$$ off at Flowers last year when he and his butt-buddy Chad Hutchinson would tenderly hold each other and sing ballads on HBO's "Hard Knocks" show.

The wideouts 4-6 have got to make special teams plays. The better special teams players should play more, in my opinion, since those are the major contributions you expect from guys that far down the bench. If McCants cannot get it done there and Woodcock can, I'd expect Woodcock to get the nod. McCants could find himself as the #6 wideout and inactive on game day. I don't think McCants is considered a Spurrier guy anyway. Heck, the Ol' Ballcoach only learned how to pronounce McCants' first name last month.

McCants caught a beautiful ball over the middle of the field in traffic for 24 yards on Saturday night. (3rd quarter, I believe) I know one catch doesn't show consistancy, but he did catch the ball despite hearing footsteps.

Russell, on the otherhand, has looked horrible as of late. Regardless, I see both making this squad.

russell did look pretty bad in the game against the ravens but he hasnt had enough game experience for him to be cut just yet. spurrier is in love with his speed...i though i over heard george michaels say that mccants didnt play sp teams...is that true? pita elisara definitely needs to be cut, he stinks.

I don't know about all y'all (that's the plural version of y'all) but I don't know if opposing teams are going to be kicking that much to Morton, so I wouldn't mind see another burner back there, like Johnson or Russell.

Anyone?
