Is it me, or are we two years behind? I recall Joe saying two years ago that we think we've found our CORE guys. Little did we know we had more CORE issues to deal with. Now my only problem is, Why are we two years later and we're still trying to find core guys. It's almost as if Joe built something the past 2 years and said "Nah I don't like it, Tear it down". I just feel that was a big mistake. Although I was for it (Bringing in Sanders). I want to get to the core of our issues first.

Especially now learning that many OC's plays are being called to attack the Cover 2 Defenses, which is really leaving Joe, disappointed, because he thinks as long as he can get 17 points, his defense would be able to hold teams,as they did in the past. Not so Joe, Not so. Next year I hope we can have a better attack where we can put up at least 28 points and stop shutting down once we get a 10 point lead.

Now don't take this as a complaint, but clearly just an observation. It seems to me that locating Free agents doesn't allow you to build. We locate Free agents to sign and draft guys to build around them as opposed to signing guys in the draft, and locating FA's to build around them. Now why is it that we are still trying to build as opposed to going forward with what we have? One of the issues I have is that we spend so much time trying to find these CORE guys, that we lose track of the fundamentals. We have had too many CORE players to regress this year. For example:

S.Moss Not as involved in the offense like before..feeling QB change, but I know he and Campbell will get on the same page in the offseason.

S.Taylor has forgotten how to play the way he did. Don't know if he's been taught not to play that way or what. He just seems unsure about what he's doing. It's clear to me now that, he needs some help back there to assist him and show him what to do.

Marshall's play has dwindled. His pass coverage has gotten lazy and he disappears during running plays.

Some people have even questioned the play of Marcus Washington. That's enough.

Carlos Rogers can be a great player, but is too inconsistant.

Yes we made some offseason mistakes lets just take the hit and move forward. Lets admit we made some mistakes but is seems that no one wants to admit they made a mistake. We can't give the "Well this season was just one of those things that happened" reasons. Because then we won't learn from them. Then it'll repeat itself and we'll be back here next year.

I think the defense is overly coached. I think GW spends so much time trying to teach scheme, he's forgotten to get his boys fundamentally sound. But this offseason is really going to test GW to see how good he really is. He'll have to come up with something new. Cause it seems the other offenses have caught up to him.

Personally, I hope Joe has more of a say in everything next year. I think GW needs Joe's help along with Al Sanders. I also think he'll be under alot more pressure next year leading to him having more of a say in the Offensive and defensive playcalling. I particularly don't care for the "let them handle it mentality". Joe you allowed them to handle it and I admit you changed hoping it would get better, but it didn't. So go back to the old Joe. Forget how much money these guys make and take your team back and let everyone run to your beat. And IMO when you get that in order you'll have your core. It seems to me that the core is the coaches, cause when the players believe in what the coaches are teaching and sleep with it, brush thier teeth, drive eat and live that scheme then we will see our team rise to the top where we belong. I'm tired of looking for the CORE after every season...I'm ready to roll.

I think this team has alot more deep rooted issues that need to be addressed first, then we can move forward. I would welcome a GM to help Joe get back to what he does best. But if we don't at least move in that direction perhaps we could be sitting here next year. I for one want Joe to give up the GM role and focus on coaching. Then we'll see the real JOE...IMO. It's hard for us older Skins fans to see Joe go through this because we knew who he was before and would like that guy back coaching our team.....

Lastely the great thing is that it is our hope that this organization can move towards the right direction. I don't know what needs to take place but It's my prayer that they can sit down and realize that this ship is headed in the wrong direction. Work through some things, figure some things out to ultimately turn the corner... But their is time to turn the corner it just needs to happen now instead of later....

Great points. Also, is it just me, or does Williams seem like a total ass? I would use stronger language, but do not want to be banned. To me, he is not a teacher, and is very arrogant. I think that this year's defensive performance proves that he has not taught and/or motivated them. Sure there have been injuries, but that is a cop out. All teams have injuries, and the good teams find a way to get it done.

A lot of people on this board seem to ASSUME that Clements signing with the Skins is a given. Perhaps I missed it, but has anyone thought that since Clements played under Williams before he doesn't want to play for him again? Maybe he loved playing for him, maybe he didn't. Odds are that he doesn't and will not come here. I hope that I am wrong. As we know, all of the players talk, and I am sure that Lavar's treatment and Arch's treatment the past two years do not bode well for the organization. I am not defending LA or Arch, but I am saying that if free agents see that why not go to another team, get paid lots of $$$$, and don't have to be humiliated in the fashion that LA and Arch have been.

Pretty good assessment except for Carlos Rogers. He's not even a good player, let alone a great one.

Good points. Cmon lets stay positive though, all we have to do is win this week, have 4 other teams' planes crash and we can still make the playoffs.

Quote from Joe Gibbs about Jason on Redskins.com:

"It'd sure be nice to see Jason take it and play 10 years for us. You have somebody there so that you can put [the QB position] aside and not have to worry about it. I've always said you have to make sure your bases are covered at quarterback."

Could you imagine having a QB here that's been in the system more 3 years? Oh my!! A QB/coach that know's the offense enough to audible...sort of like a Manning-Harrison deal.

Oh boy, I'm getting chills....

Sad optimism only comes before and after the season with the Redskins of late. But I'll take optimism any way I can.

This is probably out of the blue but, Again it's time to regroup. If I knew what was wrong with our beloved Redskins I would take a job makin' mega bucks and fix it. Alas i'm just one of the thundering herd and have simple opinions. Running is good. Blocking is good. Tackling is good. Catching, good. Throwing is good. If our Redskins could just do these simple things, a better record we would have to quote Yoda. Get'er done:Padawan:

You will NEVER see those kinds of audibles in a Gibbs offense and especially not in a Saunders offense, lol. But I agree that it would be a true joy to have some continuity at the most important position on the offense. That should be worth 2 or 3 wins a year by itself, I would think.

It would be so nice to have a QB stay with the team for 10 years! Not to mention a coach stay with the team as well.

I thought you gave up on the Skins and were looking for another team to root for?
