My boys had their first football games on Saturday.

My 9 yr. old, who is a "Pony" this year, won 32-6

My 11 yr. old, who is JV, lost 6-8
(But, it was a bad call by the coach and interference by Metallica that really cost them the game.)

Today was the first day of school and we had no power this morning, fun fun fun!!!

Has anyone else’s kids started their games yet?

Oops, sorry Joe, these are similar to Pop Warner leagues. They play from age 4 (flag) to 8th grade (Varsity) and then they can funnel right into the corresponding HS. The playbooks are similar and the kids usually have a leg up in the HS program.

Wow, that sounds like a really good system, AGG. Wish I'd been in one of those.

I'm surprised you all didn't want to know how Metallica could cost us the game.http://www.the-jungle.net/emotes/headbang.gif

Metallica should play against guys their own age.

Its a newly sanctioned game called, "How can I grind daddy's nerves into a pile of dust".

It is catching on all across America.

No Doubt. This is eerily reminiscent of the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer was taking karate classes with 4th graders. His defense was that they were all at the same skill level, to which Jerry replies........................................

"You don't need karate, you can wring their little necks"

Metallica should stick to music.

The real reason...

Our guys were backed up close to our own end zone. The home team's announcers had their speakers set up behind that end zone under a tent. During a break they were playing Metallica (Hubbo told me who it was) and "forgot" to turn off the music.

Our poor kids couldn't hear the audible and therefore got a delay of game penalty which backed them up further.

Then our nitwit coach went for it on 4th and whatever it was at that point, and of course we didn't make the first down.

The other team got the ball and fell into the end zone for their only touchdown of the game.

My son didn't care that they lost, he was happy with his game and that's all that matters in the end!!!

(Thanks for indulging me)
