Trent Green: The Chiefs need to get younger on the offensive side of the ball, and they need to rebuild their offensive line. Green should reunite with offensive coordinator Al Saunders in Washington.
I say if Brunell retires Trent Green would be a good back up to Campbell.I would welcome Green.I like Trent when he played for the redskins. We should have never let him go.

Green isnt going to want to be a backup and is definitely not going to settle for backup pay.. Brunell will do whatever he can to help this team and if that means another restructure of his contract and being the 2nd string, so be it.

I never wanted Trent to go and would welcome him back. However, I don't see Brunell retiring so I very seriously doubt this would happen.

aint gonna happen. nothing but speculation and not well thought out speculation either.

I wouldn't mind it if he came cheap, but I agree with Rich's post.

He'd be a good backup for us, but I don't see this happening.

I rather have Brunell at this point. he knows the system and is a mentor to Jason. Plus it gives Jason a comfort level knowing Brunell is back there. We also avoid the possible man love conundrum with Saunders perhaps wanting to switch to "his" guy.

This is the reason why I would not want him.

Herm Edwards said last week, Trent Green is next year's starter.

Herm also said something to the effect that Laveranues Coles was going to remain a Jet, a few months before he was traded to us.

Do we really want a guy whose signature pass is a throw away pass to the gatorade tub to mentor Campbell? I can hear him now, "Hey, JC. Just throw it at his feet. Don't worry, the fans here are like trained seals". I don't think so.

Offseason hasn't started yet, has it?

By the way, I like Jason a lot, but he does come out with outlandish stuff. Remember when he thought Skins were the best team in the league after Jags win? That article really had my hopes up for the rest of the season.

Absolutely. Just having Todd Collins on the roster gives me the willies. I don't want two of Saunder's guys backing up Campbell. Trent looks like he might be done at this point, anyway.

I really like Jason Campbell. I would welcome Trent Green, but he could be a backup in KC and probably end up starting for them again before the midway of next season. I don't see this happening with Gibbs as Head Coach. He stated he was committed to Jason.

While I respect the rule that a player should not loose his starting posiiton due to injury, there logically should be some exceptions. Huard was playing so much better than Green (heck, Huard was playing better than 90% of the QBs in the league) that I think Edwards put his team's best interests for 2006 behind his loyalty to Green and the rule. If the CHiefs don't make the playoffs (do they stillhave a chance?) Edwards stubborness on this could be one of the major reasons. Any team with Larry Johnson and a better than average QB, and a pretty good D, should make the playoffs. RIght now, they are missing a better than average QB (at least for 2006).
Don't want Green as a 'Skin at this point, and I like him.

Remember though, we still have Coach Gibbs and the possibility that he switches back to "his" guy. JC has looked decent to me so far, a lot better than Brunell and I'm still betting that Gibbs has a QB competition between JC and Brunell come training camp. Gibbs left the door wide open for Brunell to start again when JC was "given" the job.

I agree that the Chiefs should have stuck with Huard, but I don't think the move to Green by Herm was out of loyalty. The guy had only thrown 15 passes while Edwards was the coach in Kansas City before being injured and therefore Herm had no relationship with him and no reason to remain loyal. The switch was made because he thought Green was the better QB, a decision he may be regretting now.

Folks, be careful when you title a thread. The thread title was misleading even with the "?".

I dont want him back here.Period.
Trent Green chose not to resign with us.
He picked Stlouis over the Redskins in 99.We offered him the same money as them.I believe he was from their so he left.
We had to give Minnesota a 1st and 3rd pick for Brad Johnson.Thought it was worth it when he led the team to the playoffs.I guess it was considering it was the 1st and only time some one led the team to the playoffs during Gibbs break. :Peace:

We weren't able to make an offer to Trent Green, the league had put a freeze on the Skins signing any free agents until the ownership got settled.
We gave a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd for Brad...

Edwards did make statements that his policy is that nobody looses their starting spot due to injury. Maybe not loyalty to Green per se, but loyalty to that policy.

Trent Green and Mark Brunell are both 36 years old. with Saunders here, can anyone really say they would rather pay Brunell to be here over Green?
