Well with the way the season has went no one seems to pumped up for Betts to break a franchise record.
Going for his 6th staight game of 100+ rushing yards.
I read the article in KFFL a few minutes ago and realized that they left a name of the record shared by 3 Redskin RBs not just the 2 they named Rob Goode, and Clinton Portis.
Clintons and Ladells running back coach also did this in the last 5 games of 89(all wins).
Ernest Byners name sadly has been left of this great feat.I dont know if anyone else noticed this or I might be mistaken in my drunken state of mind.
I for one hope Betts breaks it tomorrow night.I dont give a crap what our record is.It would be another positive going into the off season.
I dont know how to put links in my posts............so I will leave that to the more talented special effects posters in here.:Peace:

Redskins | Fast facts: Ladell Betts
Fri, 29 Dec 2006 07:35:06 -0800
Updating a previous report, Redskins.com reports Washington Redskins RB Ladell Betts can set a new franchise record for most consecutive 100-yard rushing games if he were able to eclipse the 100-yard plateau versus the New York Giants in Week 17. Betts, who has rushed for 100 yards in the past five consecutive games, would break the former record held by RB Rob Goode in 1951 and RB Clinton Portis in 2005.

Id rather win first....then hope he gets the record....that would make us all feel good going into next season...and if it doess't happen that'll mean some extra push ups or weights or running harder in the offseason....

im sorry but reading your post i'm not exactly clear on what the record is he is supposedly on the verge of breaking.

the problem is that this is a individual record and not a team one. we are 2-3 when ladell has run for over 100 in the last 5 games. if he get 99 and we win, i'll be happy. i do want him to get the record, but i want a win first.

Five games in a row with 100 yards rushing. If he breaks 100 this game, that would make it six. How about a standing ovation for the dirtbags??? Last year, they set two records (well tied one and set another) by allowing portis to have a five-game 100+ yard streak and set the all-time franchise rushing record and this year, they enabled Betts to *potentially* set a franchise record with 6 100+ yard games in a row. Not to mention keeping Campbell upright for the most part.

I wish we were 2-3. I'm pretty sure we're 1-4, but I'm not going to look it up because it's too depressing. I have no idea how we lost those games, the way our O-line was playing.

no, we're 2-3 with wins against carolina and new orleans. like carmike said, the defense was the problem.....except in philly when the offense made too many mistakes.

wow i cant beleive 6 100yrd games in a row would be a record. im not taking anything away from betts, but we've had some very good running backs here over the years. how could none of them have gotten 6in a row? i wonder how many players have done it in the history of the league.

I am sorry but I have to disagree with you on the first part of your comment.
The individual NFL record for consecutive 100+ rushing yards in a game is 14 by the Great Barry Sanders in 97.
Our teams/franchises individual record is 5, matched 4 times by Goode in 51,Byner in 89,Portis in 05,and now Betts in 06.
As for the 2-3 record that it has produced stinks.I am like you I want a win period.I just would like to see Betts/dirtbags set a new record as well. :Peace:

Yep. I think it is more depressing that betts actually outran the remarkable run the Portis had and we still lost the majority of games. Sad is what it is.

sure, its a team record because he cant do it by himself, but when you look in the record books, you'll see ladell betts' name next to the record. not jon jansen, derrick dockery, casey rabach, randy thomas, chris samuels and ladell betts. plus, we've been losing while has produced the record which sort of kills the buzz.

Resign Dockery and watch us run for over 2500 yards as a team next year. I like how Betts is running, no complaints there, but this OL is absolutely dominating up front. I can't wait to see the offense next year with a more experienced Campbell, this OL, and a devastating Portis/Betts combo.

youre forgetting a record. portis had 9 - 100+ yard rushing games last year which is also a redskins record

50% of the record goes to the Dirtbags. They're nasty man.

Clinton Portis-RB-Redskins Dec. 29 - 6:04 pm et
Houston may reportedly show interest in Clinton Portis this offseason.
Here we go. Along with Ron Dayne, Portis, who has a history in Gary Kubiak’s scheme, would form one of the league’s premier backfields. This would free up the Texans to choose a first-round defensive back, defensive end, or even quarterback. Re-working Portis’ contract to make it tradable would be the biggest obstacle for a blockbuster like this.

I am glad I got Betts autograph this year. He might turn out to be our main RB next season.

well they passed on Bush, then fired Casserly. comparing Ron Dayne to Portis is funny though.

I think Clinton could flourish in a lower-intensity market like Houston.

It sounds like a reporter blowing smoke. They're just trying to connect the dots between Gary Kubiak, who coached a long time in Denver, with Portis.

IMO it's because Betts doesn't score many TDs. He gets big chunks of yards, but hasn't been able to punch it in in the redzone. That's why I favor Portis much more over Ladell. Clinton seems to have a nose for the endzone. He had 7 TDs this year despite playing very little.

Not to take away anything from Betts. But this record is more for the O-line.
Just to bad we didn't start the season dedicated to running the ball. Might be talking playoffs.

in some fairness to betts, altho i do agree he cant find the endzone like portis can, we seem to be getting in the redzone then pulling betts out for duckett, with the exception of last week when betts got a few redzone opportunities and converted

It is true, the Dirtbags deserve credit for the running game lately!
