This is the one signing I don't ever worry about. He's made it known over the years how he wants to be with the Redskins.
Heck, he's his own agent.
Never the less. Great news indeed.

albright resigning was almost a given. and also this was reported in the redskins free agent thread awhile ago. i dont see an albirght thread creating much buzz as much as us fans like the guy, so i checked the redskins free agent thread first and it was already in there.

The title of this thread is very misleading, I thought Albright retired as opposed to signed another contract

Maybe I've been a corporate monkey too long.... I read the quote as Ethan Albright resigned (i.e. he quit his job).
I've heard people say if you wanted to wish your son a long career in the NFL, have him be a kicker or long snapper. Less wear and tear and a long career, assuming you do specific things really well.

Yeah, I think he's a long-time Redskins fan if I remember correctly. Great job by the Skins. We don't have to worry about long snaps for a while now.

I could have sworn that he had signed a new contract as soon as a year or so ago but apparently I'm incorrect. Nevertheless, as long as Ethan Albright is around, we'll be OK! Great Redskin.

Although I do not see terms of the contract yet, I think he only does one year deals.
Having him and Betts in the fold is a great way to start the offseason.

Should I start working on my long snaps, so I can become an expert at it and so we will have stability for 15 years after EA is gone? lol.

Glad to have him back next year, don't we always hear his name every year? Does he only sign one year contracts?

Yeah. And he doesn't even have an agent.

No need. No team is gonna pay a long snapper more than the veteran minimum. Saves a nice chunk of change over the years.

Yeah I'm sure the salary is stout, but what he's really going after is that FAT NFL pension.. He'll end up collecting 300K+ health benefits from age 55 for life. Man, as if they didn't earn enough today. jeez... just in case they blow all their coin now, they have another bail out golden parachute around the corner..

well.. it wasn't always that way.. the worst shame of the NFLPA is their collective failure to take care of the older players who do not have that kind of pension help.
shamefull !!!

Atleast the older players had a pension!! Shoot.. how about the rest of us?? I don't know of anyone that has one anymore.. If you had it at a company, its been dissolved.. Reagan killed the fed's for new hires back in the 80s, and the majority of others are facing disastrous shortfalls. Luckily, I'm young enough to "bank it up" now, but for millions of others even a small pension makes all the difference. I guess my point is The Red Snapper is parlaying is mediocre atheleticism into a sweet payday in the end.. Other flashy short timers like Ryan Leaf won't see a red cent from that pension when he's too old to work the car wash anymore. :)

He was on Comcast Live last week and he said when he resigns for '07, he will break the NFL record for signing the most consecutive 1-year contracts. AMAZING!
Kudos to the front office on resigning the "Prefect Skin"!

Albright traditionally signs one-year deals for the veteran minimum, and did so again for 2007, according to a league source. Given his service time, Albright makes about $800,000 annually and does not receive a significant signing bonus. Albright said yesterday that he was excited to get a new deal completed so early in the offseason.
"I'm thrilled to be back, without a doubt," he said. "Washington is a fun team to play for. A few years ago going to the playoffs was a lot of fun, and I hope we'll turn it around and get back to that."

What would of been funny is if someone brought in the game of Madden and tried to base his worth off of that.
Now you only have a 21 agility Mr. Albright....
What?!
