I got a puppy the first week on Dec, she is a Saint Bernard. Well today my 14 year old daughter was running around with her when the puppy took her legts out from under her and she fell on the puppy. It broke the puppy's leg, to be more specific her left rear leg right below the knee. Once it has healed are there any lingering effects to her. Will she be able to run the same and play like puppies love to do?

I've had two different dogs tear their ACLs (yes, really) and they both move around fine.

my dog (now 8) broke her front leg about 6+ years ago. she was/is just fine after she broke it, but it was heartbreaking watching her go through that. :( she walked around dragging her little cast on the ground....

as long as it is not a hip, the dog should be fine

My dog broke several bones in his foot (the weekend I was supposed to buy Denver tickets from LNR :) ) and he has the occasional limp. But he's an incredibly fearless retriever that will tax his body to the extreme. Bred for the house he's not, he's a hunter, but if he were a house dog he'd probably show no effects at all.

personally, i think you should have gone for the "balanced" look and put one of those cones around the dogs neck...
i always liked that look..
i was going to buy one at petsmart this past week just for the heck of it, but mrs shally gave me such an evil look i had to put it back.. she said i better check to see if it would go around a 17" neck (my size) because that is where it was going to be going if i brought it home..

My dog had one of those, and as funny as it looks on the dog for the first few hours, after that you just feel bad. The positive about dogs wearing those is that they can't lick themselves and make that awful noise.

I just brought her in from outside, she had to pee, we have abouta foot of snow on the ground so she was dragging her splint through the snow. She is still a little groggy from the pain meds she was given. Both of my daughters were crying when it happened, the yelping she was doing was killing me.

Yeah, we just took in a dog that was previously thrown out of a car window and shattered her leg. There were pins in it for a while, but she has been fully healed. She does favor it every now and then, and limps every once in a while.

we have had them on several of our cats.. it makes a cat clumsy and they hate it.. but at least they wont pull their stitches out that way

Thank you very much. She is doing better today, she goes in for surgery tomorrow, they are putting in a pin. I am sure it will go as planned and in about 6 weeks she will be bouncing around the house again.
