still very early, but it does not look as if the pats are going to make a major effort to resign daniel graham prior to the start of free agency.

given the dreadfull state of tight ends for the redskins once you get past cooley, anyone think he would look good in a redskin uni and fill a major need ?

Graham would be a nice fit in the passing game at the right price, but we already have our pass-catching tight end. If we don't re-sign Yoder, then Graham would be a good aquisition. We're in the market for a blocking tight end (assuming we cut ties with fauria). I'd like to see us go after one.

fauria is toast.. as is koz... yoder had surgery and was replaced as a blocker in many schemes by pucillo.. not exactly a ringing endorsement. yoder is cheap. that is his best attribute.

while graham is a fine receiver, he is a decent blocker.

the major cautionary tale is that few pats who are allowed to walk (law and vinatieri are the exceptions) have major impacts with their new teams.

We have too many needs on defense to spend big free agency dollars on a role player on offense, especially at TE. That position will have to be filled with a journeyman and they can continue to use a reserve Lineman as an extra blocker.

Agreed. We have bigger fish to fry.

:goodpost:

We don't need a stud at every position; let alone at a backup position.

no interest at all, id just as well resign yoder and let fauria play out the last year on his contract

All of our money should go to the defense this offseason. Preferably DL and CB's. Draft a couple of speedy LBers for a youth movement.

We don't need a blocking TE... we need a backup C. Pucillo is our man...

I wouldn't mind getting Graham if he comes cheap (well, like Patten numbers) otherwise....

Trade down, pick up a 3rd, and draft a TE in the 5th. Let him learn under Saunders and Simmons...

I'm still pissed w/ NE for the last TE we got from them. Heck no. Teach Pucillo how to catch a ball out of the back field and call it a day.

All season I predicted that #62 reporting as elligible would catch a pass...

Oh well. I have zero interest in Graham.

As this is not about a current Redskin, I moved to the NFL forum.

FedEx field: where former Patriots go to die.

Truthfully though, Graham is much better than Fauria. It can't hurt if it's cheap.
