View Full Version : Starting to get really annoyed....

Its now time for media publications to come out with their picks for this year, and the picks are really sickening. Im tired of so called critics taking safe picks with very little justification and blasting the redskins for now apparent reason. One guy from PFW picked the skins to finish dead last in the NFC East. WTF?!?!?!
We have one of the best O-Lines in the NFL, arguably the best LB core in the NFL, two top shut down corners, burners on offense, and now really no weak spot on the entire team. Yes we have a young QB and unproven RB's, but Miami is the super bowl favorite with Jay Fielder!! The eagles have 0 weapons besides the guy that starts with the ball on every play...
Im just tired of the lack of respect. Im beginning to think that the NFL doesnt really have cinderella stories, rather just has teams that the media overlooks because they are lazy, stupid, and biased....
Just look at the Eagles v Redskins position by position... The only three players that are more proven are at QB, DT and S (3 out of 25). Thats it, at every other position the skins have the upper hand or at least are equal...
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!?

It's all about respect. The media doesn't want to applaud Dan Snyder in any respect, so ranking us last is just another way for them to diss him.
We will not get any respect until we translate offseason acquisitions into wins on the field. We have been down this road before (2000), so until we perform well on the field and make the playoffs, we will continue to get no respect from the media.

No weak spot?! Hows about an unprooven running game and makeshift d-line. Plus, our o-line and linebackers will only be considered one of the best until the proove that, and they haven't up until now. What's more is that we're behind an unexperieced QB that will eventually do great but like everyone else will go through some growing pains. I don't think we're that good yet.
As you know, superbowls are won by teams and not position by position battles.

Our Defense was pretty good last year, even though they had to start each time in field goal range. Every team has a make shift D line, this is the NFL... My point is that so called analysts really dont look at teams. They just make the easy picks, and then at the end of the year say, "what a cinderella team!"
Pisses me off....

Your whole post is my feelings exactly. We have to earn respect. There are a lot of ???'s with our team.
I think we will do ok but it will have to be done on the field and not in our minds or on paper.

Farbod we've been getting that respect in the past years and made people look bad. The common denominator is we get FA's that look good on paper but are mediocre on the field. Why should prognisticators take a leap of faith w/ us over 31 other teams?
The NFC east has philly coming off an NFC championship game, the Giants a playoff berth and what appears to be a good all around offense, and the Cowboy's w/ a stud coach. Read Bigcountry's post again. Unpoven QB and running game and a huge ? mark along the d-line.
Who cares what they think anyways.

Are you guys forgetting 2000 and last year? MANY "experts" picked the 'Skins to win it all in '00 and alot of "experts" predicted good things last year including a bunch of SB predictions.
Anyway, don't worry about what they have to say. Last year in the offseason(after we lost alot more than we did this offseason) everyone said we were done then we had a 4-0 preseason and everyone was saying SB then we started 14,2-5 and everyone was syaing we sucked then we win 7 of 9 and everyone is back on the bandwagon. The media likes to hop on good stories and right now you aren't a good story, get off to a good start and I guarantee you the media will be on your bandwagon and start to say some good things about you.

Farbod, I know how you feel man. I feel it to. But, alot that has been said is true. Its time for us to shut up and earn respect.
However, I do believe that even if we win it'll be because every team we beat had an off day.....kinda like the win over the Ravens last weekend. Thats what really pisses me off. When our guys come together and play as a team we still don't get credit.
I found this picture a while back and it fits here......

First off, CarMike, that's beautiful.
Second, yeah, there's no reason for them to predict good things yet. We've gotta earn it.

I persnally think the Eagles will still push us around this year. Maybe position to position we match up better... the odds are that they have better continuity... and their coach has a way about him that makes them win.
I cant se what everyone else says about the Giants... and the Cowboys are a plain joke.
So I see us 2nd in the division... hopefully getting the wildcard.

The redskins deserve more respect than dead last. Dallas has nobody on offense, and their defense isn't Baltimore Ravens good, so Bill or no Bill, they won't win jack. Dallas will gain yet another top 5 pick again. The Eagles have no proven WR, RB troubles, and are rebuilding some of their defense. I really can't say anything about the G-men, they're pretty solid. Sure the Skins have a second year QB, he has confidence, Spurrier has confidence, and I have confidence in Ramsey, if everyone shows confidence, he will be great this year.

Well, it's been said. He have to earn the respect. But I agree with CarMike, they'll make excuses for the teams that we beat. Vick was playing, neither was Pennington. If we win both of the games, they'll have asterisks beside them. As for us finishing dead last, that's a bunch of bull$hit.

like the majority has said, i believe the skins need to earn respect. i dont agree with them being picked last in the division of course. i just cant wait until the season starts so that we can (hopefully) make a**** outta the people that are against us....

Someone has to be picked at the bottom. I could care less if they disrespect us.......we will have to prove the doubters wrong and make a return to glory!

Nah gotta go with the BC and Shabb on this. I think we will be good, i think we can make the playoffs, but i were a professional analysts, i would not have the Redskins ranked high either. No matter expectations, over the past few years they disappoint. As mentioned our Dline is very suspect, we have a young QB, a new OLine, and many new players, which could make for problems in team chemistry. So i can see the pessimism easily.

I think it would be ridiculous to assume that we are better than the Eagles and the Giants. We are not better than Philly, they'll push us around again, and it remains to be seen whether we can play with New York. However, picking us last when we are in the same division as the Cowgirls is a slap in the face, I agree.

many things have already been said that echo my feelings...we have to earn respect from the so-called experts.
see it this way...if we're picked to finish dead last in the East, and we don't, we're already one up.
this team really hasn't done much of anything in the preseason, look toward the 1st 5 games to see how this team will fare...
the key will be our D-Line...if they can't stop the run...watch out, teams will run all day on the Skins. If they come together, we could be in for a treat.

I don't give a rat's a$$ about respect from the so-called experts!
This team will earn the respect it deserves on the playing fields!
It is now the time to put up or shut up!
It all starts Sept 4th!

I don't know about this Philly pushing us around thing. I think we'll be better prepared for them this season. Reid is a good coach but he can also cost them some games with his conservative play calling. They had some high turnover on defense and there were a lot of shoes to fill. We'll see but I don't think we'll be pushed around like last season.

Well said h2s. Eagles aint pushing us around like they did last year on Monday night! Won't happen.....

I am glad the experts are down on us right now. It make it so much sweater when they are proven wrong (of coarse most of them wil be saying how they told us so, blah blah blah).
Get used to what Sonny J. used to say often back in '91 "Too Many Weapons.....Too Many Weapons....."
Also don't forget what the so called EXPERTS said when Green went down for the Rams in '99 and Bledsoe for patiots in '01. Most of the time I get the feeling they are just P----n is the wind.

You think not getting respect from the media pisses you all off, how about getting all the respect in the world from everybody like the 2000 and 2001 seasons and then we stink up the joint. Then everyone starts lowballing us. Now that is what pisses me off.
Gang getting upset at what outsiders think should be our least worry. Putting a quality product on the field is the focus.

skinswin'emALL I like your optimism but right now we (probably most NFL teams right now) are minor leaguers compared to the 91 team, weapons included. I'd take that o-line over this one anyday, I'd swap the WR's (Coles included) in a second, and don't get me started about the running backs. Now comes the question, Spurrier or Gibbs? :o
skinswin'emALL
08-27-2003, 08:31 PM
Spurrier or Gibb?? No contest! Gibbs is the ulitamate coach. He got more with less than anyone I've ever seen. Gibbs could adjust to the strengths of his players. How many other NFL coahes have won 3 SuperBowls with 3 different QBs? Answer: NONE!! SS needs the right talent to go with what HE wants to do, I believe he has it this year. Time wil tell of coarse, but unlike most overpaid media "Experts", I'm willing to say it now.

with dalton in the line now we could have a big chance to suprise those a$$hole critics and get some respect.....The o-Line will gell and ramsey will get very comfortable in the pocket and make very good decisions.... just wait and see trung will do good as well... he gets to run the ball behind the best o-line in the league except for the chiefs. Our Linebackers will get through because the tackles are gonna get some push. Dalton is known for that... Wait and see I cant see us doin any worse that 10-6 unless the injury bug comes to bite us.
