Since I was sick at home today I needed to do this mock to get from getting depressed over Monk's annual HOF shafting.
All comments and suggestions are welcome:
WinnipegSkinsFan Mock Draft #2
1. Oakland Raiders Jamarcus Russell QB LSU
Davis can’t resist a big strong armed athletic QB for his offence.
2. Detroit Lions Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
The Detroit O-line needs help and Kitna can last 1 more year. They can go after Staton in round 2.
3. Cleveland Browns Alan Branch DT Michigan
The Browns need help everywhere and could go with Peterson here but Crennel is a defensive coach and there will still be some good RBs in round 2.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Calvin Johnson WR GTech
Bucs fans insist that CJ is the man here. Personally I think the ’06 receiver stats were down because they had to start Gratkowski , but whatever.
5. Arizona Cardinals Jamaal Anderson DE Arkansas
A team that needs o-line help but also a lot of needs on D. Anderson is too much of a talent to pass up here.
6. Green Bay Packers Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
Trade!!! Skins get #16, #48, #80. Packers get a premiere RB in a big trade gamble. I think the Pack gets secondary help in FA.
7. Minnesota Vikings Dwayne Jarrett WR USC
Vikings get a WR that fits the west coast offence well. A real reach but hell, they did it for Williamson. Hopefully they’ll have the same results
8. Houston Texans Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Not planning to draft a QB, Quinn falls into their lap and the Carr era is over.
9. Miami Dolphins Gaines Adams DE Klemsun
Before that lying sack of **** bolted to Alabama he stated the Phins needed a pass rusher and a play maker in the secondary. The Phins listen to him one last time.
10. Atlanta Falcons Laron Landry S LSU
Despite FA signings for the position in ’06, safety play left a lot to be desired. Landry fixes that.
11. San Francisco 49ers Leon Hall CB Michigan
Many defensive needs so could go with Willis, Landry but the cB position seems the weakest.
12. Buffalo Bills Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh
Wilson is too cheap to re-sign Clements despite a ton of cap room so they have to draft a replacement.
13. St. Louis Rams Paul Posluzny LB Penn State
Word out of St. Loo is that Witherspoon is staying at MLB. Regardless they get a top linebacker who can play outside an din.
14. Carolina Panthers Reggie Nelson S Florida
Since Thomas Davis moved to OLB there has been a real hole at Safety.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers Ryan Kalil C USC
A real surprise but Hartings’ retirement makes this necessary.
16. Washington Redskins Patrick Willis ILB Ole’ Miss
Redskins thank their lucky stars Willis falls this far. Greatly upgrades the position.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars Sidney Rice WR S. Carolina
The Jags have a lot of big guys at WR but no game breakers. Rice gives them that.
18. Cincinnati Bengals Quentin Moses DE/OLB Georgia
The potential loss of Pollock necessitates some pass rush help.
19. Tennessee Titans Ted Ginn WR Ohio State
The Titans need more playmakers at WR for Young.
20. NY Giants Marshawn Lynch RB California
While the Giants have dire needs in the secondary, Lynch falling this far is too good to pass up.
21. Denver Broncos Jarvis Moss DE/OLB Florida
The Donkey’s had a terrible pass rush in ’06 and Moss provides good speed from the outside.
22. Dallass Cowboys Levi Brown OT Penn State
While s Griffin is tempting here, the Pukes sketchy Oline needs more help.
23. KC Chiefs Amobi Okoye DT Louisville
The Chiefs DT play is terrible and Okoye gives them a young player with vast potential
24. NE Patriots Michael Griffin S Texas
Harrison is getting older and more injury prone. Time to groom a replacement.
25. NY Jets Adam Carriker DE Nebraska
Carriker is perfect fit in the 3-4. He’s been rising up the draft boards so the Jets are lucky to get him here.
26. NO Saints Earl Everett OLB Florida
The Saints LB crew overachieved, IMO. Everett insures that have a more reasonable talent level.
27. Philadelphia Eagles Eric Weddle S Utah
A real reach but S is a position that is a definite need for the Iggles.
28. NE Patriots Dwayne Bowe WR LSU
Face it, Caldwell and Gaffney ain’t exactly the WR core Brady would like. Bowe gives Brady better talent to throw to.
29. Baltimore Rat-Birds Jon Beason OLB Miami
The Rat-birds may lose Thomas in FA so a replacement is needed.
30. SD Chargers Buster Davis ILB Fl. State
Foley’s career may be done and Edwards is getting old. WR or S could be addressed here but they chose Davis.
31. Chicago Bears Rufus Alexander OLB Oklahoma
Briggs is probably going to bolt for a monster deal so in comes his replacement.
32 Indianapolis Colts Lawrence Timmons OLB Fl. State
Cato June could bolt in FA so …..
Washington Redskins draft:
#16 Patrick Wills ILB Ole’ Miss
The Skins need to upgrade at MLB. Marshall can backup OLB and come in as 4th LB in some packages.
#48 Chris Houston CB Arkansas
A combo of size and speed. He can learn for a year under Springs.
#80 Dan Bazuin DE Central Michigan
A high motor DE that can split time with Daniels for a year before he replaces him.
#134 Mansfield Wrotto OG GTech
A raw but athletic guard that can be a backup and then replace Thomas when he retires.
#166 Matt Spaeth TE Minnesota
A big body who is a good redzone target and a good blocker. His late season injury causes him to drop to the 6th round.
#198 Dan Sepulveda P Baylor
Frost gets some TC competition.
