(i hope i do this poll right)
with the logjam at running back, do you think we'll trade a back?
We could cut someone or try to PS Sultan.
If you think trade, who's gone?

Right now, I think we do not trade one of them. By the way, I love the Ricky Ervins choice. He was a hell of a back in 1991. Not sure what happened after that, though. All I remember is a lot of fumbling.

I don't think we're going to make a trade either. If we were, it would have been for a standout D Tackle, like a Grady Jackson. Now that we've gotten Chase and Dalton, looks like everything is set up front.

I liked Ervins too...maybe he's selling insurance with Shuler. We can bring them both back.

If they do make a trade, I think Betts will be the bait.

the only reason to trade would be to get a draft choice

I don't think we will trade. Having running backs that can catch out of the backfield will help us when our receivers are shakey. We have seen all of the running backs go in motion and become wideouts throughout preseason. Watson was a receiver at Penn State. We could easily set up a few mismatches and they can help spread the field out too.
If we did trade, (I have been saying it all along) Betts would be the one to be gone....

I think we have a few reasons to trade a RB.All which center around current depth problems or potential problems next year.
1.CB/DB=We dont know if Bailey will return,Smoot i think is a FA or RFA after this season, and we just cut Molden.
2.OT=we have a lack of depth here as well IMO.if Samuels goes down again or Jansen theres no legit backup with any experience.
3.DE=Smith is done after this year,Upshaw is recovering from injury(again)and Wynn didnt show his worth($) last year.I like some of the young guys but it wouldnt hurt to have the depth here that we do inside(thanks to the recent trades)
4.TE=we just dont have one and anyone that says we dont need one is kidding themselves.Spurrier found out he had to run last year and he'll find out he needs a pass blocking/recieving threat at TE this year.Could we really have too many weapons?I think not.
Any of these scenarios with an accompaning low round pick(if the player isnt proven) would be fine with me.Trung CAN start,Watson CAN be a solid #2,and i like Sultan he reminds me of the type of player the Broncos always seem to find.Betts has the most trade value.does anyone know if the saints have any guys at the above positions?

Not at this point. We've done as much wheelin' and dealin' at DT as possible right now, I think. I'm sticking with Betts 'til the end. I'm still a believer. Don't trade him for a future pick FO!

Betts may be good, but I don't think he's the future and I'd rather trade for a pick to use on a DE or line depth anywhere

Bye Bye Betts - he gets the value

Its very likely Betts winds up being our most productive back. Trung still has alot to prove. Speed alone does not make a football player. Watson is a nice surprise but simply does not have as much up side as Betts. Betts is more explosive. He sees and hits the hole with very well. I hate to say it but if anyone Watson should probably go.

What up side are you referring to? Him being a 2nd round draft pick?
How about Adrian Murrell? Oh...that's right, he's in Dallas helping their pathetic RB situation. You know it's bad when you got to go get a guy 2 years removed from retirement who wasn't that great in the 1st place.
Murrell was prob the one guy I remember in recent memory who would tackle himself. He probably had some of the worst balance of any RB as hyped up as he was. He would fall over his own feet, fall down on arm tackles......just sad.
Why did they get rid of Emmitt Smith again?......lol.....he would be their best right about now.

Shuler is selling real estate. Check out heathshuler.com. He has a picture of himself in a Saints uniform. That unappreciative SOB!

Ha lol at Murrell. His shadow posted more tackles than the '00 Ravens defense.
I can't believe some of these Betts' admirers. Too many feel-good articles does a body no-good. Betts looked 'explosive' against expansion teams and losers towards the end of the season. We have too many RB's, a coach who only runs enough to keep the media off his back, and a future to keep in mind.

I don't remember any 'feel good' articles? Have no idea what that point even means. Both Dalllas and Houston had decent defenses last season when Betts got his shot. It was there horrible Os that made them doormats. The bottom line is that he produced when given the opportunity and showed diverse skills. I'm surprised so many think Trung has proven himself and can run between tackles effectively when real bullets fly. Really, all of our guys are question marks. Why put all the faith in Trung?
