I'm with you on this one Shally. This is really good news for PP, Doughty and Fox..... AS WELL AS ARCH?!?!?

Kind of strange how JLC's blog got this one the day before it happened... I guess he's got a good source in the organization or a good educated guess.

definately. if we're cutting a veteran safety, it means we feel confident in the other guys. he didnt play special teams anyway. Personally, I really like doughty. He had a couple of really good hits on special teams last year. maybe this means they feel he will develop well in coverage.

Thanks for the FG block at the end of the Dallas game, Troy. For that alone, I am glad he was a Redskin for a handful of games.

LOL ... I was thinking the exact same thing. In the grand scheme this means very little me/us.

everything i've read agrees with that. Which i'm very happy about. Arch can be a great player if he's used correctly.

Maybe this means we can cut lloyd.

Actually he did... remember the greatest Dallas-Skins play of all time??? Vincent was the one to block the FG attempt.

me too. but the good news, cutting him also cut our team's average age in half.

IMO i think between safety and CB we may have 3-4 new players.Vincent is gone and soon Springs will join him and maybe Ade Jimoh also lets not forget about Adam Archuleta.WOW other then Rogers and Taylor we may have a new secondary.

JLC's blog from Wash Post (posted in another thread) says we keep Arch and Lloyd and they have more or less been told that by the team. I think the fact we cut Vincent means significant playing time for Arch next year. I think they are going to make another go at this thing with Arch.

This kind of disappoints me. Vincent is great in the lockerroom, and while a little long in the tooth, I think he would be excellent to have in our secondary because of his experience and versatility.

He can't stay on the field, he is just an older version of Springs.

yeah, maybe he could be some kind of assistant coach though? he was in the league for a very long time, has seen just about every trick in the book. i think his experience could be very valuable to rogers and taylor.

he is big into the business side of the nfl.. that is where he will go. he is a very sharp person and will do well

Vincent was a one year stop gap that we signed to a 3 year deal to make his first year cap friendly.

He cost way too much to keep this year.

agreed. plus, his play was marginal.. except for one magic play against dallas

I was thinking the same thing. For that single play Troy Vincent has claimed his stake forever in Redskin lore. Just as we'll never forget the Brunell to Moss TDs in dallas, the Kenny Houston stop on the one, the Dexter Manley tip/Daryl Grant TD.

thats a good and a bad move, i think he is a good depth safety, but he is money we dont need on our cap

It was necessary IMO, ironically we're crowded at S: Taylor, PP, Archuleta, Doughty, Fox, maybe Springs...

this is good news for our cap, while i like vincents knowledge and experience he was an injury waiting to happen like springs and he was 36. well time to say bye to john hall, and fauria

This was expected. Thanks to Troy for his short time here, and hopefully some of his class rubbed off on the lockerroom.

He was a class act, didn't do to much but I expect his influence in the locker room was more than that on the field. If he would have taken a severe pay cut I would have liked to keep him, but since that was unlikely this was the best decision.

I am glad about this. I don't think that the SKINS should be a place for veterans to retire. He had one great game for us. But, he was beat long a few times last year. No different than Arch.

Thanks Troy for making my first EVER visit to FedEx a great and memorable one... and my fiancee thanks you as well (since she got me the tickets as a b-day present).

but except for one memorable play he was a non factor..in retrospect, the bills were correct in releasing him last year..he is spent as an nfl player

So why did they bother to sign him to a multi year (3 I believe) deal last year ......... Could go to long without adding to the dead money I guess.

I think it was actually to decrease his cap number last year..but I'm not too sure.
