Per draftdaddy.com's blog:
Mentioned 4 teams have been heavy in the trade talk (didn't say who was talking to who) and that those teams were the Skins, Jets, Broncos and Chargers. Also said the Skins spent some time with Chris Houston of Arkansas and Lawrence Timmons of FSU.

I wouldn't mind Timmons if the Skins had the time to sit him and groom him for a few years.

Why are we always rumored to be in trades with the Jets and Broncos?

Because we actually often are in trades with them...

I realize this...hence the reason I think this is more speculation than anything factual.
Its way too easy to make up a trade rumor involving NYJ, DEN and WAS.

Well, we are talking about sports writers/reporters...usually not exactly the brightest or most original minds out there...
It's probably a case of "well, I don't really have anything to say, so I'm just gonna repeat some random thing I said in the past".

Because it's like when I used to make trades with my little brother. I would give him my bigger nickles for his smaller dimes. We both were happy with the deals.

I'd have to assume we are talking about trading back which would make me very happy. If we can get two defensive players instead of one, that will be a very big win for us.
Can anyone who is knowlegable comment on the Chris Houston? Isn't he the strong physical pressing CB that would fit nicely in our system?

Yeah I actually really like him as a second round pick. (if we can get one)
He's fast, tough and has a swagger about him. What's most impressive about him from the what I've seen of him on the field is that he changes direction like his hips were made of jelly. If he runs a fast time as expected he could be looking at picks 20-32 though.

Histerical. If you were the Broncos is there any other team you would talk with first?
That plan ride for the Broncos FO to Indy must have been fun. They must sit around and come up with ideas to pitch to the Skins.

That is who I thought he was. They did a piece on him at the combine and how he was able to shut down some of the elite WRs in this draft.... I forget who, but their point was he made it tough for them to get off the line and get into their routes. He was also right there with every WR on the clips they showed.
I am not a fan of the Nebraska DE, but maye we miss out on the big three D-linemen and get someone like him or Willis and a DB like Houston. It is just so tough to speculate on trades.

Naaah. It's easy to speculate on trades. Everybody does it. Even SI and ESPN "analysts" can do it. Its hard to be right about trades when even the principles who will be involved probably don't know they are going to make them, yet. ;)

Timmons came in much shorter than advertised and ran a poor 40 time. We could get him in the early 2nd if we wanted to. Willis, however, ran a 4.49.

LOL! That is what I meant... It is very difficult to accurately speculate trades.

Let's see what our picture looks like after St Patrick's Day and then we'll try to take a stab at the direction we will go with on Draft Day.

Who the team interviews will only give you a very broad direction of who the team's looking at, and they're going to interview a whole lot of prospects. However, I'd read alot more into the Chris Houston and Jamaal Anderson interviews then I would the Lawrence Timmons interview. I'm all for drafting someone to groom behind Washington but I'd do that in round 4 (if we get a pick there) at the earliest. Stephen Nicholas from Central Fla (I think) is one of my favorites there. He has game speed, is strong for his size and has been very productive in college.

I say we trade Ladell Betts to Broncos for our 2 nd round and 3rd or 4th rd pick.

Pay attention, I'm not going to repeat this. The Jets have our 2nd, the Broncos have our 3rd and the 49ers have our 4th. That is the story for our '07 draft picks and we aren't trading Betts for any of them or anything else.

Both Mayek of NFL Network and ESPN reported that Timmons is shorter than expected, had a horrible workout and is dropping like a stone. Why would the Skins to waste a high pick on him?
If he is still there on day 2, maybe he is worth a gamble.

Yeah..personally, from the 5th round on I would concentrate on guys who played pretty well in college but had not very good workouts, if there are any left..

We could have draft him and get rid of Dockery wouldn't be such a big deal:banghead:

He went in the 4th, the 99th pick. After drafting Rocky at 35th, we didn't have our 2nd pick until 153rd, so we couldn't have drafted him anyway.

yeah...we didn't have a shot at him unfortunately. i was pretty upset when i saw him finally off the board, especially when i saw who took him.

Yeah, we always get robbed in our trades, I am fearful of us giving more away. The Broncos are good at taking from us. I am still bent about them taking a pick and Champ, it should've been a straight trade Bailey for Portis.
But, I can't believe we gave up a third for Duckett, who we didn't hardly use. Now he is gone too, or almost gone.
I've turned the corner on Branch, after seeing him at the combine.
