This is the guy so many people wanted us to get during last seasons free agent period. I wonder if Philly or the Patriots will look at him again? Fact is he's 34 and just doesn't have the speed he used to.

No, he does not, but I still think he would have presented better value than Givens, Lloyd, Bryant, JJ, or any other member of a very weak group of 06 FA WRs.

I wanted him and I still wish we had gotten him. He is better than Lloyd, stil more productive, cheaper and wouldn't have cost us 2 draft picks.

ESPNews reports that the Ravens have released Jamal Lewis.
The move was expected because of Lewis' roster bonus, and only means that the two sides weren't able to come to an agreement on a restructured contract. Lewis was also cut last year and returned to Baltimore after testing free agency. The same scenario could happen again, but the Ravens should look to upgrade before settling again on Lewis, who is a part-timer at best at this point.

Its amazing how quickly a stud RB can get shuffled back to mediocrity.
He has almost 2,000 total carear rushes. About the same # as other guys who have lost a step such as Ahman Green and Fred Taylor.
Makes you wonder if guys like Sean Alexander are next in line...
Maybe Tiki retiring with 2,300 total carries was a good thing...

Quasi-tangent: I'm sick of the persistent talk of the NFL adopting a 2-back system. The reason teams use them is because they don't have a number 1. Meanwhile, if a team has two sub-par backs and use them in a dual role they usually waste the first half of the game figuring out which one is going to be better on that given Sunday. Meanwhile, teams with a true number one have someone they can depend on to bring it 13-15 games a season and don't have to worry about it. Rant over.

50/50 could be a stud for the Patriots. It's the Tom Brady factor. Or maybe Billichicken takes it out in receiver hide. One way or the other, the Patsies turn glue-factory horsemeat into Triple Crown winners.

This is from PFT. And i was so mad when the skins did not draft him.
WILLIAMS TO GET WHACKED?
There's talk in league circles that the Detroit Lions will cut receiver Mike Williams, as soon as Thursday.
If he goes, he'll be the third top-ten draft pick in four seasons who flamed out in Motown. He was selected tenth overall by the Lions in 2005, two years after the Lions selected receiver Charles Rogers at No. 2 overall, and three years after quarterback Joey Harrington was the pick at No. 3.
Players that the Lions could have had instead include Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney (2002), receiver Andre Johnson (2003), and linebacker Shawne Merriman (2005).
So what will happen with Williams? Who knows? We heard the Rogers not too long ago ran the 40 in more than 4.7 seconds in a workout for an NFL team.

If Williams were more coachable and dedicated to his craft, he would be worth signing and converting into a pass-catching TE to complement Cooley. But if he were more coachable and dedicated, he wouldn't have been a bust in Detroit in the first place.
Wiggins, on the other hand, might be worth looking at.

like the title says, smooty has been cut by the vikings. I personally want him back because i think he would feel at home here, and play with the intensity that he played with when he was here. Also, he would be a great nickle back who knows the system real well already. I think he would sign cheap and long term cause he knows he wants to play with the redskins, and there won't be much action for him (at least i hope so). thoughts. I don't know how to do a poll, but a poll to see who wants him back or not sounds like a good idea.

wtf? He must really tick some people off to get cut from Buffalo after several 1000+ seasons and now from the Titans.
Apparently it's because he was due a 8.3 million dollar bonus. But he's a very good back IMO.

So now they're going to rely on White and that other guy that can't stay healthy? Morons. Just pay the frickin' bonus.

White deportedly weighs 550 pounds now and was last seen at a Yokozuna look-alike contest...

they had chris brown, but i think he's a free agent and highly displeased with the team. i dont think they have any other options. i guess this is the time for lendale to show what he's worth.

He'll be more valuable to USDA inspections than to the Titans.

1200 yard season and you get cut: Travis Henry to be cut by Tennessee (http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070302/SPORTS01/70302072/1027&GID=332+ZizHgsrytQViTqwFUtklAuNXY9HFsZB8vEKDnFo=)
hope wherever he goes, we dont play him next year...

Jared Allen wants a trade, Bryant was released, and so was Jeremy Stevens. When is Rae Curruth up for parole?

Do you think they could still trade for McGahee after all these signing?

still, he might be the closest thing they could find to tiki.. and by now coughlin is used to being abused by his runningback..that would be a formidable duo for the giants to have. i would hate to play them twice a year--even with fletcher in the middle now..

Do you think they just re-run the same 2-back article on ESPN.com every August or do the kings of oversight at the 4 letter just not notice?

I think they change the names of the teams involved, but generally no. This is what happens when you hire George Solomon as your ombudsman.

We have to get Courtney Brown. We simply must. If we can get him for the vet minimum and he comes into camp in shape and he doesn't have any nagging injuries and he performs like a first round pick -- let alone the first pick overall -- we would be getting a diamond in the rough.

saw that and referenced that on another thread (my bad)...
but give another shout out for the front office not going into panic mode and overpaying for brown when we were looking at him

Maybe if we went and got Courtney Brown, it would lure LaVar back to the fold to play with his old bud.

Hmm. Sammy Knight has been released by Kansas City. I wonder if ole Danny boy will try to go and get him.

he's almost as good as it gets for a strong safety. he's really good in coverage, he knows how to intercept the ball, and he can tackle.

i agree. bringing in two 30+ players at the ss position doesn't seem logical. i do think however he could be a short-term remedy at the ss position.
