In Pro Football Weekly's NFL Preview 2003 they rated Dalton the 14th best DT in the league. Ahead of, notably...Darrell Gardener-16, Dan Wilkenson-18, Shaun Rogers-21 and 27-Grady Jackson.

Saying quote -

"14-Lional Dalton/Broncos 3.4 (scale of 1-5) *player at a crossroads.
Immovable defensive tackle allows free-flowing LB corps to take all the credit."

Wow? Nice to know that before the trade ever happened, some people thought Dalton was better than both the guys we had last year; and both the other guys we were looking at.

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but wasn't quick-witted enough to post it here. Getting Dalton, if he stays healthy, will be regarded as one of the best offseason moves the team made. He's not a star, but he's a solid pro who knows the defense. And we only had to give up a late round draft pick for him. Good deal.

Wow! I knew that Dalton was a good, solid player, but I had no idea he was so well-regarded that he would be rated ahead of pro-bowlers like Gardner and Jackson. I can't wait to see him in action tonight.

Here is what Pro Football Weekly (http://profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/default.htm?mode=nfceast) says about our new DT Martin Chase:
Chase, acquired for a conditional, late-round 2004 draft pick, has a great chance to earn a starting spot once he learns the system. He is a stout tackle who has started only four career games in five seasons and is considered more of a run stopper than pass rusher. That’s good news for a run defense that allowed 150 yards rushing in its first two preseason games. The line played better in its win over Baltimore, allowing only 35 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Hopefully, our dline will become one of the stories of a successful year for us.

If he is a "Stout" tackle, then he must be pretty good. :D

I got the magazine (Walmart). It has a www.profootballweekly.com on the cover though. But I don't know how much of it's on the site (it is thick) or if it's current, or in their archive (sights update so much). But typed it verbatim, god as my witness.

Suprised to hear THAT good of an opinion of him, though. But it is nice to know he's no chump.

Well, I like to hear that too, but I'm ready to see it. If Martin and Dalton can come in and give our DL some much needed stability, I'll be very happy!

Alot of people were wanting (myself included) us to use a first rounder next year on DL and we still should but we may have increased our talent 10 fold and maybe only used a 5th and a 7th. If we did that we should be very happy. Dalton could be the steal of the offseason for a 5th, which is why I could not understand why some people said a 5th was too much. We could use the first rounder next year for a DE
