I just wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming change to Daylight Savings Time this year. You'll have to apply patches to your Operating Systems and you'll wanna check other software you have that might require an update. For example, Microsoft Office.

I need that hour badly. On the other hand, I'm sick of waking up too early because of how bright it is in the AM.

Instead of setting the time one hour forward, you have to set it 5 hours back.

Daylight savings time has been moved up 3 weeks. It will occur on March 9th this year instead of in April like it normally is.

Paul Harvey calls daylight savings time "semiannual foolishness." I'm very used to it, but a good many people hate it.

Yes, Paul Harvey. Now *there's* a man we should be listening to about increased productivity. Or the merits of washing your hands after handling field mice. Or anything, really.

Daylights savings time is always on early Sunday AM (2:00AM, I think). So, that should narrow it down to the 11th.

Losing that hour tonight is going to suck, I don't get enough sleep as it is.

I'm hearing conflicting things about what I need to do with my computer. Some people are telling me that the XP service pack has the new DST and others are saying it doesn't. I was just going to wait until tomorrow morning and see what my computer says. I can do it manually if it doesn't but then I will have to adjust again in a few weeks I guess.
Any advice?

You should be fine if you've have Windows Update enabled and you have installed the updates. Now, if you have a Windows Mobile device, you might not the update applied. There is a CAB you can install that will update the OS for DST. You can get that here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx).

I do have the updates enabled and I might just check all of them to see if I received that one. I don't remember any recent updates but I imagine that one was sent a while back.

Mobile device... LMAO! You know me better than that. I don't even carry a cell phone.

I have to drive my sister to work, and cause I'm a good kid, I'm going to 9am mass. Couple that with having to finish the laundry I don't finish tonight, and you've got one tired princess on your hands!

Does your sister have depth perception problems? And if I was driving her arse into work like some kind of Mrs. Daisy, she'd be doing my laundry as compensation, lol.

Toddlers don't know what day of the week it is and are very regular in what time they wake up. The dog also could care less if your sleeping once the first person in my house gets up. The rest of the kids get up shortly thereafter and I need to be coffee'd up once the total onslaught of noise breaks out in the household.

The answer to the DST problem?

Move to Arizona where we DON'T celebrate DST.

So we are back to 3 hours distance now (essentially we are on Pacific Time Zone now) with you Easterners.

I'll tell you though, I don't even want to talk about all the headaches involved with deploying this patch to 5000 computers....what a pain. I think I just negated the $10,000/day energy savings to deploy the 931836 patch.

I do take my home entertainment seriously... :D

CarMike- I'm currently reading a pretty fun book by Stephen King called Cell. At a certain moment in time, every person in the world talking on a cell phone turns into a mindless, bloodthirsty zombie. You'd love it! lol

You could always bribe people. (I guess it can work to be your friend AND to do your laundry).

I really shouldn't have gone to bed at all, life might have been easier. But I did get my 2 cups of coffee this morning. Granted, I'll more than likely have at least 2 more, but it was a start. Back to finish more laundry (I wouldn't have this problem if i didn't have so many clothes!)

It's one of the reason I like Montana. I don't have to sit in Subway cars and listen to people's private business get broadcast over cell phones at volume 11. It also lessens the fear of having to drive and get run into by people that can't multi-task. I really wish they'd set aside cell phone areas like they do for smokers and then I hope all the cell phone frequency gives them a more hideous form of cancer.

Every place has its plusses and minuses. Beats the heck out of DC traffic, humid summers, and the we-run-the-world attitude of your average Washingtonian. Beats the heck out of an upstate NY winter and the 330 days a year without sunshine.

I was planning on it at one point, but the last time I visited I couldn't wait to escape the madness. I'll be in the job market again around this time next year and I'd rank the potential relocation spots in order probably as: Denver, NYC, DC, St. Louis (not that I want to live there, but because of a job and ties to the Wash U. Econ dept.), and somewhere not in the US.

What does it say?

4) Ctrl-C to exit the time setting

5) Type "exit" and press enter to exit the command prompt.
