Lions James Stewart goes down, they might take watson for shaun rogers... Would we take another DT? We will probably release watson anyway...

I'm not sure Watson and/or Betts are eyed as full time running backs in this league.
Maybe as a backup...but not a full time starter. At least not yet.

Hey what else do the lions have?We could use a backup TE,OT,DE,etc.

I think Betts is a close match to what the Lions used to do with Stewart, at least in last year's offense.

The Lions will luagh at the idea of Rogers for Betts or Watson.

I would take a TE, DE or OT for a back. We need depth there. Doubt we'd get Shaun Rodgers though. Maybe we can get him and Boss Bailey...Then Champ would be sure to stay.

I'd trade for Terrance Holt. The guy is a special teams freak.

HMMM. You know what I would like to do? I would like to trade a RB for BOSS BAILEY!!!!! OK, I know that we are NOT hurting at LB, but it would be nice to have such a player. Heck, I would even throw in David Terrell (I like Lott more). It would be an incentive for Champ (possibly), plus I hear that he has 4.3/40 speed. How is that for Linebacker speed???

Some teams thought about converting Boss to safety.

I don't know if he can hit, but if he can, he would be an intimidating safety (with his speed and size). That's not a bad idea.

Boss Bailey is quick as lightning and hits just as hard, he needs a little experience and he should be a stud. I was dreaming of us getting Bailey in the 2nd round this year and moving him to safety. With his knees he should be playing on grass anyway. Having said that, there is no way in hell the Lions are trading away their second round pick and a key piece of their future on defense for either Betts or Watson.

Why in the world would they trade him for an unprooven backup RB?

Because they're the Lions.

Watson, I dopubt would get more than a 7th rounder and Betts not much more. Teams know we almost have to release someone and they will wait till we do

But... there are a lot of RB hungry teams who have wavier claims. A team might want to ensure picking up who we waive for a late pick. I could see Cinnci picking up more of our table scraps to back up corey dillon.

since everyone is down on him, how about Cliff Russell and Waston/Betts for Boss Bailey

I do not want the Team to deal away either of our #2 backs but if they do, here is why I want the Team to deal Watson instead of Betts.
From the Redskins pespective, It is rare as hairless inch on my ass that you trade away a 2nd year, high draft pick for anything less than a high draft pick/multiple picks or a very good player. If they do, they are stupid. I have not seen evidence of that yet, in fact, they have been very thorough this year. If they do not trade Betts, they have a guy they think is close if not better than, Watson who will bring COMPENSATION after his third year or so.
Watson was an undrafted free agent with NO COMPENSATION owed The Team. If they keep him instead of Betts, he either gets a superior contract from us or goes away bye bye, free and clear. If Watson is Traded, we get a 5th-6th-7th for an undrafted player.
That is good business. If you are another team and as many of you think-Watson is better, what would you offer? Probably a pick comensurate with his undrafted status(low). If he and Betts are similar who do you want? Betts with his higher salary and higher trade cost or Watson with his lower salary and lower cost? Right, same as above. If Betts is thought to be better (and this is where I think the truth is with our Team and the rest of the league) you try to low ball the Skins and hope they panic trade. I don't see us panicing or another team giving us a high pick (If they do give it, fine) yet. Maybe a few games into the season...
I don't see Watson as significantly better than Betts as to void these issues. If he was, he'd be our starting back.
