View Full Version : Keeper Question

I'm in a min 2 max 4 league with only 8 teams. I have 5 guys to choose from:

Vlad, Jeter, Oswalt, Morneau and Derrek Lee.

I think I will keep Jeter and Vlad for sure but can't decide between the other three. Lee has the highest ceiling but he was injured last year so that's a question mark. On the other hand, they picked up Soriano so he is going to have some serious protection in that line up.

Morneau is coming into his own and has no injuries that I know of. I think he will be rock solid with no risk but doesn't have the potential to hit as many dingers as Lee.

Oswalt is a solid pitcher who kinda got screwed last year in terms of run support and by the bull pen. But he's solid every year although he doesn't get quite enough K's to be a true keeper pitcher. Also I think I can get solid pitching in later rounds so using a keep on anyone not named Santana might be questionable.

I won the league last year so I will have the last pick of the third round and the first pick opf the fourth round, so keeping three is an attractive possibility.

What do ya think?

I do not follow baseball at all but I'd vote for Vlad b/c he is young enough and seems to consistently put up good numbers.

I'm in a different kind of league, but Vlad terrifies me. He runs around the outfield like an 80 year old man. I personally think he could end up on the 60 day DL in a heartbeat. I'd drop him. He always gets drafted in my league for a crazy price, but personally I think he's a tad overrated, mainly because of the potential health problems. Lee's injury was a fluke, wasn't it (I don't follow the NL)? I think that 1B/DH types are pretty safe, from the injury perspective.

You could be right, I think Lee's injury was a fluke, but none-the-less, it did happen and he has residual wrist problems that take away some of his power.

A lot of people worry about Vlad but I think his injuries tend to get exaggerated for whatever reason. Over the last 3 years he's only been on the dl for one 15 game stint or so, and he always puts up solid numbers. His back worries me but I just can't ignore the stats. He's way too good to drop.

I'd keep all but Morneau. It's a tough call on him though. Was last year a fluke? Is he really that good? He is the youngest of your group too though. If I were to swap Morneau with anyone it would be Lee. I think he's a little overrated.

Both Lee and Morneau have only had one good year. Damn this is a hard choice. So you would keep Oswalt?
