View Full Version : Dr. Z doesn't have much faith

Don't know much about this Dr. Z guy. Must have gotten some respect somewhere to get his title, but whatever. Anyway, he's got us going 5-11 (same as the C-boys). I much prefer the good doctor, Hunter Thomspon, who does a weekly article on ESPN's Page 2 and always manages to get in a good word about the 'Skins. Just last week he slipped a line or two in about Darrell Green being the epitome of class and talent. I have a great deal of respect for him as an author and a football mind, he sees great things for us in the future. Check him out...

They AT LEAST have to have us at 7-9. We have had high expectations previous years, but never went that low.

7-9 sounds about right to me also... I think we will be fortunate to finish that well

Before the season started, most thought that we would go 10-6. That we would have a shot at the NFC East title. I don't understand why everyone's opinion is changing because of a poor preseason. If we avoid injuries, all of our first stringers will be in. Perhaps we lost 3 exhibition games because CAR, NE, and Jacksonville's reserves outplayed our reserves?

Riptide: Currently Stirring
By Tony Kornheiser
Washington Post Columnist
Tuesday, September 3, 1991; Page C01
"So much for the 1-3 record in exhibition games. How many times do we have to tell you that exhibition games mean absolutely nothing? Nada. Zippo. Zilch. The only teams that try to win exhibition games are bad teams with brand-new coaches, like New England, and bad teams with relatively new coaches, like Phoenix. (Bad teams regularly have brand-new or relatively new coaches. Memo to Detroit Lions fans: Look for Wayne Fontes in your rearview mirror soon.)"
This is what Tony K had to say about the Skins in his first column (before it got the now famous Bandwasgon name) after the Skins beat Detroit 45-0. Before this agme everyone was questioning the Skins, especially at QB. Mark Rypien! No way most EXPERTS and fans thought. Even the FO at the time would not give him a new contrat. He was in his final year and made 300K. The only one who believed in Ryp were Gibbs and Tony K.........that's it....that's the list.........
For those who like visiting the past.............

The preseason doesn't worry me that much. The Skins lost all four of their preseason games in one of their Super Bowl years.
It's more the fact that the team has been sputtering during its preseason play. But, hell, so have a lot of teams around the league (Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins, to name a few). We've just gotta see what happens when our starters are in their for a whole game with a full playbook.

It's not like we were playing doormat teams, either.

Yeah, but still. 5-11? That's re-friggin-diculous.

I was justifying our preseason record. We played Carolina, New England, Baltimore, and Jacksonville. That's not harsh, but no cake walk either.

Mike used to be my favorite of the two[Wilbon and Kornheiser], but after Tony's Redskin comments, and Mike's Kwame comments, i'm starting to lean toward Kornheiser.

I can't really recall Dr. Z EVER predicting the redskins to win more then 6 games.

If we go 7-9 Snyder will lose that twinkle in his eye for Spunky. If we go lower I'm willing to bet we have a new coach next year. Any thing less than 9-7 is unacceptable in my books. Not will all the weapons Spunky has been given.

Shaggy is right. Dr. ZZZZZzzzzzzzz has never written one word in a good light about the Redskins, or atleast since I've reading about the Redskins on the internet. The guy definately has a beef with the Redskins for some reason...

re-friggin-diculous? That's an instant classic.:D

Wilbon was dead on with his Kwame comments. He is grown man now, one who should be held responsible for his actions. It's time (been time) for him to step up and grow up.

Dr. Z had this to say about Dan Mariono before his rookie year...
"Dan Marino is a project, he doesn't have the coaching to succeed in the NFL and I don't think he has the ability to be a starting QB in this league"

"Dr." Z once confessed that he didn't scout the majority of the teams that he had opinions on. I never gave him the time of day even before that was revealed, so oh well with his predictions as far as I'm concerned.
