Don't go joking about that. Cut Wawful and put him on the coaching staff.

Actually out of all the decisions, the only stupid one see here is carrying two QBs.

The Washington Post says Wuerffel has been cut as well.

Interesting

Redskins.com confirmed Wuerffel and Hamdan.

This little nugget also in that article:

-- Zeron Flemister has regained the starting tight end spot, Spurrier said. During the preseason, Flemister had started the first two games while second-year player Robert Royal started the Baltimore game. The Redskins opened in a three wide-receiver set without a tight end in the Jacksonville game.

I think cutting Woeful was a good move... but whose was it? SS hints it was Snyders... either way... now perhaps SS will stick with Ramsey a bit longer.

On the other side... 2 qb's?????

Agreed! Perhaps he is trying to even up his decisions?;)

Maybe Spurrier will put himself in if a 3rd QB is needed....

Danny Wurfel was brought in to teach and motivate Ramsey and Johnson. Everything else has been speculation. When Wurfel played more than Johnson, folks were claiming Spurrier was going to move Wurfel up the depth chart. More likely he was out there so Ram and Johnson would not have an injury risk! Remember the goals of the last game, stay healthy. Remember all the important players on the sideline. The staff thought it best to have at least one QB during training camp (the most important learning time) who knew the play book and it's subtleties. That's the worst case. The best case is Wurfel makes the squad. He did'nt and now they go on and get a THIRD STRING QB off the wire or trade. I am not understanding all the bitchin about Wurfel's play and now the bitchin he was cut.

Yeah Wuerffel can be seen as playing in the final game because it minimizes the risk of injury to our other QB's plus it could have been a favor from Spurrier to at least give him a chance to audition for other teams (even though I think everybody has seen enough of him already, don't get me wrong I actually like him but I don't think he could make it on any other teams)

If the Redskins stick to the plan outlined by Spurrier and have only two quarterbacks on their roster, it would be virtually unprecedented in the league. Spurrier said he didn't know which player would be his emergency quarterback to finish a game if both Ramsey and Johnson got hurt.

Shouldn't that be something that is thought out before making this decision?

This looks to be about depth and special teams. Keeping a 6th WR, 4th RB, 7th LB, 9th OL and a 9th DB.

I agree, although I'm noticing that we don't have any backup OT's within that group.

Wow, I mentioned in another thread that I thought it was ploy to keep both Sultan and Watson. Eventually move Sultan to practice squad and bring back Wuefel. Boy was I wrong.

Here is my take, I still think we have 3 QBs. We just can not have both go down on the same day. No one is going to sign Danny and what better guy to bring in during the season if we need a QB, heck I would not doubt SS has an agreement with Danny to hang around and maybe Synder will drop a few bucks into his foundation in New Orleans. That way SS can sign him if he needs him and saves a roster spot for a RB

You are probably correct Skins.

Yeah, no doubt Wuerffel will be on Spurrier's speed dial in case one of our QBs gets hurt, but this is still a bit unsettling. If both go down in one game, do we put Gardner in at QB or something?

we have enough RBs we could run the wishbone :D

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out Woeful!

I think the plan is to have Hamden on the practice squad and elevate him to the roster if someone gets hurt. Obviously you'd be in trouble on gameday if both Ramsey and Johnson went down. But then on the other hard with Woeful at #3 we really didn't have a NFL cailber guy anyway.

DW seems like a nice guy but NFL defenses are going to feast on him as a QB because he can't make the field long at all ... they can just mass bodies close to the line and deal out damage ... nice college player but hey ... these are the big boys out there ... you have to throw it 60+ yards down field or the LBs and DBs in the NFL will just about own you

best decision is cut him, sign him up as a coach if he wants to be one ... teach Rob Johnson the playbook ... and sign Hamden to the practice squad ASAP (where else will they find a #3 who has a clue about what Spurrier wants ...)

think maybe other teams will screw with Spurrier by trying to sign hamden just to make SOS put him on the roster?

I have no love for Woeful, but keeping just 2 QBs on the active roster seems assine. I know the 'body bag' game doesn't happen every week, but it just seems like were asking for it here. A true roll of the dice IMO knowing how often QBs are leveled in the NFL.

Winey is a FA Offensive Tackle. He's the reason they let go of Jones last week.

Carrying just two QB's is asking for trouble. Somebody had better rethink this. Just my opinion but I smell something and it ain't roses.
