Does anyone know how often in last season or any season, the 3rd (Emergency QB) played in a game....and when this happened, how often did the team win?
The only game I remember the Skins using 3 QBs was against Philly and Brian Mitchell came in to QB.......I don't think a different 3rd string QB would have saved the day.

I can't answer that, and let's hope that we don't have to find that answer within this team this upcoming year.

I don't know the answers to your questions...but I would say if Ramsey and Johnson are both out of the game due to injury we are probably getting the crud knocked out of us and I don't think our third QB would do us much good.

Philly's 3rd string QB was 4-1 as a starter last year.
McNabb and Detmer both got hurt, so AJ Feeley had to do the QB'ing there.

Maybe I need to restate the ? ....... In the SAME Game....How often is the "Emergency QB" used and how often did that team win.
McNabb got hurt (early) against the Cards (did not come out of game); then the NEXT week Dytmer got hurt against SF and Feeley came in to finish the game (he was NOT the Emergency QB)

Wasn't Brian Mitchell actually the 4th QB on the list? I though all three of our QBs went down so thats why he had to play the pos. I could be wrong though.
Excellent question though Skinswin'emALL. I'm not sure of either....

Actually we only had 2 QBs on the active roster at the time (Rypien and Humphries).......as did most teams. This game was credited with prompting the change in rules to carry an Emergency QB that is not active on gameday, Except to come in an emergency. Once he plays the first QB to start is not eligable to play in the game.
Hence the question: Since this rule was added, how many times has the "Emergency" QB came in and how many times has the team won the game?

Didn't we have a game last year when MAtthews and Woeful were ahead of Ramsey but Ss brought in Ram at the end of the game or half becuase he had the only arm to throw a hail mary

That was at the Jags game right before the half (I was there:( ). Ram was 2nd and DW was the Emergency "inactive" QB.
The Jags fans around us did not realize that Ram came in and were amazed when they thought Mathews had thrown it from the Jags 35 to the back of the end zone! I clued them in.

I thought there was a game with Ram doing that as a third QB becuase a lot of people didn't think we were allowed to do that. I am almost sure it happened last year at one poiint but I could be wrong

You may be thinking on the 1st Dallas game. Ram was the 3rd "Emergency" QB. He came in for a hail mary at the end of the game, with 6 sec on the clock, from skins 23. The pass was intercepted.
I got this from NFL.com:
7) There are some special rules about substitutions for quarterbacks, especially as pertains to replacing the starting QB who is not injured. What's the rule?
Each team is allowed to carry a third QB on their roster who is not part of their 45-man active roster. He may enter the game in an emergency situation if the first two QBs get hurt. If he enters anytime in the first three quarters, neither of the first two QBs can re-enter the game. If he enters in the fourth quarter, the original QBs can return to the game. The third QB can only enter the game in the QB position.

Our Emergency QB should be the man who knows the offense the best, Steve Spurrier

Hall gets my vote. Hey, we had a QB playing kicker last year. I bet Hall couldn't do any worse:D

Didn't Rod Gardner get recruited out of high school as a QB. Maybe he still has some skill to be an emergency QB.

I do remember 1 game last year againt the Titans when DW got hurt early and Ram came in. That left SM as the Emergency QB. Of coarse Shane did't come in, but at least he was there if Ram had gone down as well. And I guess thats the point. I still don't recall a time when the 3rd QB came in and if that team(s) won the game.

I guess we'd have to go with Rod. Too bad we don't have Antwaan Randel El here.

I dont know about Rod being the QB, thats one less weapon at receiver, plus does anyone know how good of a QB he was. I mean Allen Iverson was a QB in High school

I was watching ESPN Classic the other day, and they showed an old Clemson game, in which Gardner came in and threw a beautiful WR reverse pass back to the QB for a 20 yard gain. He can surely play the part if needed, I'm sure.

This was stated by Drews Brees (paraphrase). Things can't be looking to good if we're playing the 3rd QB in a single game.
Even with QB shuffling he did at UF, SS still didn't play 3 unless it was a blow out :)
Sometimes I don't understand the need to keep 1 QB in no matter what, unless your have an Elway, Montanna, Farve, etc. I don't have a problem changing QBs in a game if the 1st is not getting it done. I remember in 2000 when Brad J was struggling against the Giants (missing wide open receivers, fumbles, etc) and Turner waited till late in the 4th to put George in and it was to little to late. One drive sooner and we might have won.
I seem to recall Gibbs going back and forth between Williams and Schroeder in 87, don't recall how that year worked out for us. Can someone help me with that?
I am not saying give em the hook at the drop of a hat (SS), but if a guys having an off day, it can bring the whole team done.
Look at what happens when David Terrell's playing Safety. If he getting beat get him out -- he's not Ronnie Lott
