From his demeanor and the way he answered the questions asked in regards to Wuerffel being cut and Sultan making the squad, I'm willing to bet that he was against both decisions. I admit this is pure speculation on my part, just a vibe that I got from what I saw and heard.

This would support something that I read that stated Hue was responsible for getting the team to sign Sultan, so it seems he would side with keeping him. However, this conflicts with what's reported in the other thread that Hue got mad because Watson was let go.

Interesting.... Why wouldn't he get the final say in that? I don't think that should be Danny's realm.

Sounds like Vinny may have been involved.

I seem to remember that Gibbs and Bethard often disagreed (sometimes very passionately) and guess who they said made the FINAL dicision then: Mr. Cooke

Well, this isn't really shocking as far as Snyder having the deciding vote.
As a matter of fact, I remember that being discussed during the press conference to introduce Spurrier as coach. I guess this is just the first time that that process has been given alot of publicity.

Yep skinswin, but that was coach and GM disagreeing. The other thread states coach and offensive coordinator so the coach should win. That's why I stated Vinny must have got involved if Snyder had to make the decision.

Hey 10,
From his demeanor, did he just sound like he dissagreed with the decisions, or did he sound PISSED. I think there is a difference and I am hopeing you noticed either way.
If not, no biggie as I was just curious.

From my angle, he looked and sounded as if he disagreed with those two decisions specifically.
More then once he reminded the reporter Snyder breaks all ties, and when asked about Sultan he simply quipped that it was a team decision. I didn't get from his answer that he was exactly thrilled with him getting a spot.
Again, I say that this is the vibe that I got.

If Synder made that chioce, how much did Sonny play into that, he just loved Sultan

With Spunky's past track record with personnel matters(last years gator reunion) this might not be a bad thing. Maybe Hue is a better talent evaluator. God knows he calls better plays.:banger:

Hmmm...
I hate to even say this, but is anyone starting to get that sinking feeling that Spurrier will be gone after this season?
I am really starting to feel it this morning, now that all the quotes have sunk in.

I am really starting to feel it this morning, now that all the quotes have sunk in. I stated a few days ago yhat this concerned me as well.If were not successful this year 9-7 or better i bet he's gone back to FLA.This worries me because it would mean more change, it would mean Bailey is certainally gone,LaVar would soon follow and who's going to coach? We would end up with our own version of Dave Campo.I dont want us turning into the east coast version of the cowboys because the owner cant hire competent people and sit back and let them do their job.We just for a while now(since 92)have been under this cloud of negativity,if we feel it,you know SS and the players feel it.I'll support this team no matter what but IMO we need a GM,and a coach that wants to be here for the long run and Daniel Snyder to stop thinking he's Ron Wolfe.

Only till we have new ownership will the Skins be a good team. Snyder will never hire a competent coach only a "yes man". spunky will be coaching arena league next year. We can only hope for Dennis Green.

Good Lord, now we're worried about Spurrier too? What's with all the sudden anxiety? One year and a Kenny Watson cut, and Spurrier sucks, the team is doomed, Snyder will never be a good owner, we're gonna be the Cowboys of the East Coast.... What gives? Hell, I'd like to be the Cowboys of the East Coast, let's remember that Jerry Jones has won three Super Bowls. So the higher-ups in the team might not agree on every personnel decision. So what? Can you show me a team that doesn't have that problem? Every time a head coach is also named GM, analysts forecast disaster, and more often than not they're right. The all-eggs-in-one-basket approach just doesn't seem to work. A few tough cuts is no cause for concern.

I guess I should reserve judgement til the end of the year. It's just Spurrier reminds me soooo much of Turner. Trying to find players to fit the system as opposed to tweaking the system to fit the players strengths.

Well, would you say the system fits our players' strengths now?

I'd saw he's got everything he needs on offense (save it be Ramsey who will come along just fine).

Every head coach does that. He brings in players to fit the style that he brings. It very seldom goes the other way around unless the coach is on an intirim basis.

Who said Spurrier sucked?
I will say this thoough, I don't care who's decision it was to cut Wuerffel, Spurrier should NOT have pointed fingers in the media. That was just plain assanine on his part. His EGO wouldn't allow him to say it was a team decision. Oh no. He had to point the finger publicly.
And, from what 10 is saying at the beginning of the thread, Spurrier did not sound happy at this press conference.
So, what do YOU think will happen if Snyder's hand picked coach quits after 2 years because he doesn't appreciate Snyder or Cerrato's personell moves?
And someone mentioned Denny Green? Are you kidding me? He turned down other jobs because he WANTS POWER. You think he is gonna get that here? Me thinks not.

Ratty, I personally thought you meant Snyder would be getting rid of Spurrier. Which is why I THINK JDS took it that way. If not, i'm sorry for butting in.
Now, if you say that Spurrier may quit over different styles of running things, you may have a point. I could see where Spurrier and his ego couldn't stand to lose again.
BTW, this is totally off the subject of the Redskins but I read on a couple MBs that if Spurrier does indeed leave after this year guess who may talk with him?
I've read Tennessee would be! lol Could you imagine what that would cause? Oh man that would be funny...

You are right Mike. I am stricktly talking about Spurrier quitting as I don't think Snyder is dumb enough to fire him.
Spurrier to the Vols? Now THAT would make for some good reading all over the place on the Internet! :D

How right you are RB. LOL Those Vols/Gator games would be so much fun to watch.
I find it funny also that people think if Spurrier leaves here that he'll go back to UF. They already have a coach and it would be a major mistake to fire their coach just to have Spurrier back...

Well, he was born in Tennessee, so that may not be a stretch, although that is the first that I've heard of that.
Having said that, I always thought that Fulmer had the city of Knoxville in the palm of his hands and could be mayor if he wanted to.

Are you sure you're a Redskin fan man?SS is'nt that bad,i have some issues with us not having a GM.But Dennis Green as coach?and SS in arena league?Have a little faith it's only his second season, his first with out left over pieces he didnt want for his system.I'm more worried about him not having enough patience to staynot whether he is a good coach or not.I am not a Daniel fan but not a hater either, there are worse out there. He too is just young and doesnt have it all figured out yet.
