I had read this earlier today but I couldn't find any info. Thanks Kenny for the link. Interesting. Man, Colorado is have a bad time with athletes here lately.
I hope Porter makes a nice and quick recovery...

Why is it professional athletes continue to put themselves in positions like this?

This really hurts the Steeler's D. He was a big leader for their team. I always enjoy watching the Steelers, so I hope he gets healthy quick.
And he was shot in the butt? OUCH!

With all indications that he wasn't involved in any altercations preceeding the shooting, I can't see what bad "position" Porter put himself in in this case.

This hurts the Steelers bigtime. He was their emotional leader along with dynamic LB play. He is sort like their Lavar. I read that attempts to make Kendrell Bell a pass rusher failed miserably in camp. Couple that with the fact that Jason Gildon fell asleep once he signed a big deal, the Steelers could very well take a step back this season. One clean hit to Maddox and that may be all she wrote in the Burgh.

I thnk they said Porter was in an area with a very high crime rate and that Cowher was hoping the players would not put themselves into this type of place. Thing is, Porter was very lucky, there was a person killed in this 4 others wounded. Just a sad story
