Browns starting left guard Joe Andruzzi will be cut today, a source close to the Browns said.

Andruzzi, who was set to make $1.5 million this season and is signed through 2008, has been the Browns starting left guard since he was signed as an unrestricted free agent from the Patriots in 2005. Andruzzi, a 10-year pro, was a favorite of coach Romeo Crennel's both on and
off the field because of his great attitude and work ethic.

I like Andruzzi sounds like a decent option. He's 32, but he could be a starter or good competition and would be a stopgap until we address the position with a younger guy.

Pass...he's too old and why are the Browns cutting him? If they don't want him, we shouldn't want him.

I'd look at anyone for the veterans min with no bonus.

they're cutting him because they have joe thomas, kevin shaffer, eric steinbach, seth mckinney, lecharles bentley, and hank fraley. thats a heck of a first six o-lineman. he was expendable and saves some money. he's still a quality player though and do think he should be looked at.

Isn't bentley done? I heard the staph infection was worse than everybody thought and his career might be over.

Steinbach is taking Andruzzi's spot so he is now disposable. If he came on the cheap I would take a look, but chances are he wouldn't be a major upgrade form Wade.

excdpt that he is a guard and wade will have to convert.. still, i would say, pass

I like Wade alot, but I worry that he doesnt have the frame for LG, too light in the rear, but if Buges feels good I trust his opinion...I think if they really believe in Wade they wont add a guy like Andruzzi, but I wish we could add a true G and a situational DE through other teams cuts. Ya know nothing fancy but solid additions guys like Andruzzi at G and maybe a guy in the mold of Kalu was for us and Philly at DE.

PFT had a report that shaffer wants out, so maybe there's more to the release of andruzzi than just not having a spot for him. the departure of shaffer would mean having someone like andruzzi could be beneficial, unless they feel he isnt the same caliber player anymore.

his release, even on a cap friendly deal, kind of raises a flag for me. but as already previously mentioned, a 1yr vet minimum deal sounds like a good place to start. wade will likely be adequate for LG, but andruzzi would offer somebody with more experience at the position. and it never hurts to have competition for a job.

everybody claiming that wade's size is an issue realizes that this guy wasn't big enough to run block effectively in Cleveland right?

and we have fabini... i would just as soon hoep that one of our younger free agents shows enough to make the team.. we have enough age as it stands..

different problem entirely.. wade is high cut with longer legs and not a lot of junk in his trunk.. the shorter def tackles are going to give him fits unless he can get his rear end low.

andruzzi just was worn down, i think, but has more of a guards body
