I dunno how the forum feels about this, but just my small opinion, I like the fact that Wuerffel was cut, he sucks, his arm is weak, and he does nto belong here, despite Spurrier addiction to him, BUT, in the ned, Steve Spurrier is the head coach, he is accountable for this team, he is running this team on the field, and therefore, I can not understand why Vinny and Danny would even want say. In the off-season, yes, but setting the roster? This is Spurrier's system and he needs to put the 53 players on the field he feels good to go with. Maybe I am old fashioned, but i just think when you are actually down to the wire and setting the final roster the HC needs to be the decision maker since he is the head man on the field.

I agree, PSF, but, like you said, I'm happy Wuerffel is gone.

There seems to be some resentment between the two over this..and that is bad.

However, Wuerffel needed to go. The fans knew it, Snyder knew it, and probably even Wuerffel knew it! The only one who didn't...was Coach Spurrier.

If I owned a 1.2 billion dollar franchise, and my coach (who I adored) wanted to keep Weurffel around, I'd pull the trigger as well.

When the coach is irresponsibly trying to keep a player who does not belong in the NFL, I think the Owner, GM, Fans, Parking attendants, and the Homeless guy on 14th and P Streets should all overrule the Coach.
Clearly the OBC has an irrational affection toward Danny and could not view him objectively.

Then again, maybe SS let it be known he's not happy so that Snyder owes him one on the next player decision. Coaches can't have all the say in personnel decisions but they certainly like to think they do.

Maybe I'm the only one. But I like Weurfeull for a 3rd option at QB. He really helped Ramsey learn the offense and didn't play THAT AWFULLY last year (he was 2-2) as a starter.

Wuerfell sucks, but shouldn't we have a third QB? Going into the season w/only two is potential suicide.

The article is interesting. It states all the reasons Wuerffel shouldn't be on team due to his inability to implement the offense on the field then it says Snyder is wrong for not allowing Spurrier to do what he does best. I agree that Spurrier should have the final say about the roster, but GM's on all other teams have say as well.

I'd personally rather have Gibran Hamden our 7th round pick as 3rd stringer than Danny.......I mean let's face it. If we need a 3rd QB we are in trouble anyway. We will have 3 QB's on the roster.......Im glad Danny is gone.

That's an instant classic there.

Normally, the scouts and FO get the players, and the coach decides on the roster.

I am curious as to what the fallout will be from this.

3 other teams don't have a third QB. SanDiego, Buffalo, and Atlanta (they have Vick on the roster as third for now).

I wonder how much flack they will get on ESPN and the like?

Besides we DO have a third QB, he just can't be acivated until the next week after a game in which 2 went down. Of coarse then SS would call DW and we could all start talking about the draft..........

If Wuerffel being gone means that Spurrier will be more patient with Ramsey then I am all for it. Wuerffel was little more than an emergency QB anyway. He is a good as he is gonig to get, has no upside and you limit what you can do with your offense because his lack of arm strength takes away so many patterns.

Then again, Spurrier agreed that this would be the structure from the beginning. Thats his damn fault.

I am with Keino here. I would rather have Gibran on the roster than DW. All Wuerffel does everytime he plays is prove why nobody besides SS sees anything. Why would you limit your offense like that? I though Spurrier's offense was based ont he threat of the bomb?

Heck, I would take Kent Graham at this point over DW.

An interesting trend is happening this season. Now there are 7 NFL teams going with only two QBs to start the season. First we are buffoons for doing it, now we are trend setters.

Well, Spurrier is the COACH (for better or worse)....and a $5 million dollar one at that. If you pay him that kind of loot, then let the man choose his roster that best fits his system.
