Interesting poll for the beginning of the season. I can't answer this right now.

I voted give him more time, but for me the jury is still out. I have serious questions about his ability to make Halftime adjustments. One other strike against him in my mind is his complete failure to adapt to the players he had last year. To me great coaches adapt to their personnell.....

Stability has been the rallying cry around here for awhile. This poll should be a landslide for him staying.
We can't holler stability but then holler "get his ass out of here now".

I agree 100%.
Do you think the current roster would like to enter training camp next season with another new head coach, another new defensive coordinator, another offensive coordinator...etc...etc...etc.

Gatta give him more time. If the moves made this offseason don't pan out and the offense flops then send his butt packing.

We've got to give him time. It's amazing how our perceptions have turned around between the time of the Ravens game and final cuts, and we haven't even played a game that counts yet.

I voted give him some time but it'e time for a new owner.
I love the fact that snyder will spend money to win but I am sick of him making personnel decisions with cerrato we need a Tom Modrak or another qualified GM to come in and run the show not our owner.
this is not fantasy football 101 I don't care how much money he has invested in the team. I want an owner who will hire a coach and let him do his job and keep him longer than 1 year because someone else is available or the coach wouldn't let you make the personnel decisions for the team he had to win with

I wouldn't hold your breathe too long waiting for this to happen.
He makes 100 million a year on the team...so no matter how good or bad they do, Snyder isn't going anywhere. In fact, since he is one of the youngest owners in the league, don't be surprised if he still owns the team 50 years from now!

If I see any votes for "ready to see his ass gone," I want the best explination I've ever heard as to why.

I want stability,i want to see SS succeed.I have questions about his ability to field a fundamentally sound team.He needs to also be able to prepare for his opponents better and where ever the breakdown is for picking up the blitz that must also be fixed.I think it does come back to our owner though.he needs to allow Spurrier and a Gm to decide what kind of players this offense and defense needs.Daniel to me is just like Jerry jones.Cooke decided things when there was a dispute but he let the coach coach and the Gm and scouts do thier jobs without strongly suggesting his preferences.

Yeah... this is an easy poll. He will succeed... in time.

I never wanted him here, but now that so much has been invested in him we have to give him more time.

Got to give him more time! I love his go for the throat attitude, and the way he trys to keep the team scoring instead of letting the clock wind down. I can't stand the thought of someone new coming in with that stinking west coast (no) offense!

I think the impression of his "failure" is a bit exagerated by the press. He went 7-9 last year with players that were more geared to work a steel factory than a speed offense. For a college coach to come to the NFL, 7-9 is a far better than average start.
I've got faith in him.

Joe, you're wish is granted. I never liked the firing of Marty. After Spurrier's first season, that only fueled my dislike of the move. He just thought he could bring in former UF players who were journeymen in the NFL and expect to succeed?

Another vote here for not wanting Marty fired.the man went 8-3 in the last 11 games. The D loved him and the Offense wasnt any better last year. However SS is here now,i do like him and his swagger and think that with more time he can be successful.I just hope he has the patience to stay the course.

I still think that we should have promoted Ray Rhodes to HC.

So, because Spurrier has realized his mistake, gotten rid of all the UF players, and leanred about two dozen valuable NFL lessons, now is the time to fire him?

We've got to give him more time. I remember, Coach Gibbs was 8-8 his first year and the same question came up.
Whether it 7-9 or 8-8, the results in the same thing - NO PLAYOFFS.
After this year is a better time to bring up the question. AND I truly beleive that if SS has not produced a winning team by the end of year 3 (remember he's here for 5), he'll remove himself. HELL maybe even this year IF things don't improve to his satisfaction.

The Poll choices are either strongly against or weakly for. Biased poll to say the least. Spurrier inherited a team without a big time WR, without NFL calibur interior OL, without speedy running backs, without any special teams standouts. Without a decent veteran QB on the roster. Super Marty shares much of the blame. The star player did not fit Spurrier's offense, did not like to catch the ball, fumbled more than he was previously prone to, and was hurt MUCH of the year. Under those circumstances, it is only natural for a person to rely on the familar. Name another coach who dosn't. The choices left to Spurrier in the form of FA at any of these positions was slim to none. So a whole new program had to be imlpemented to an average team at best. Do I like that we had a 7-9 record? Not a chance, but failure is not a word I would attribute to last season. I think the Team did pretty well considering the task. Other coaches around the league get support from thier fans. Other coaches are given a "honeymoon" period. If you don't think the negativity spoken of by the media and regurgitated by so called fans is not noticed by the Team, than poo on you. Lets encourage instead of pick apart before the damn season has even started.

we have to give him more time. he was a rookie coach last year and is still a bit green this year but he has been a proven winner at every level. i do agree that he should be able to adjust to players but in some cases, it doesnt work like that. i know most of is fans have been SCREAMING for continuity on this team and we finally have ot within the coaching staff. now we need to keep the core of this team together for the as long as we can and see where the skins can go from here....

Screw him then! I hope Seattle's defense gives up more yards than any other team in the NFL. That'll teach him.

I guess you have to give him more time (I am another that hated his hiring in the first place) but as far as him learning any lessons, fat chance. Bet he makes the same mistakes again, especially in the QB arena. Unless we win at least three of our first five games, he'll change QB's, guaranteed. You heard it here.

I get the feeling Spurrier will be far less inclined to play QB carousel with Rob Johnson as a backup than he was when he had two ex-Gators there.

I want to hear the argument of the impatient ass who said he should be fired. Chew on this stat: Jimmy Johnson won 1 game, Parcells 3, Bill Walsh 2, and Ditka 3 in their first seasons in the league. Give him a darn shot, come on.

Good point, but why so necesary for Spurrier and not a guy like Schottenheimer, who actually was making some progress with the mess he inherited? Spurrier will get at least a couple more years if for no other reason because Snyder is becoming a laughing stock with his carousel, meddling, and inneffective spending. Besides, if memory serves me right, Parcells and Walsh both served as Assts in the NFL (or was Walsh at Stanford, could be wrong here), Ditka had the most innovative, respected defensive coach at the time (we just lost ours) and the best back in history (at the time) and Johnson was the beneficiary of perhaps the most one sided trade in NFL history, that gave him a handful of proven starters as well as a few years of 1st and 2nd round picks.
Oh well, I hate Spurrier, but reluctantly agree that it would probalby be wrong to start over agian.
