It was a mess, I turned 18 halfway through senior year. At the time it was legal for me to write and sign my own absent/late/tardy excuses. It got to be a joke. Many times I'd ask the attendence counselor at her little window if I could borrow a piece of paper and write my note right in front of her. I thought I had it made until the school sent home a letter saying... "you son has been absent and/or late 68% of the days since the start of school" in HUGE letters! That wasn't a good week for me...
