Mawae Makes Waves Before Jets Set Sail
Ken Berger / Newsday
September 1, 2003

Jets center Kevin Mawae was asked what he thinks about the ex-Jets factor in the season opener Thursday against the Washington Redskins. The result was the first verbal salvo in a week that could be filled with them.

"You know what?" Mawae said. "If you can't win with the players you've got, you go find guys from a winning team, and I think that's what happened."

Ouch. Get your thumbtacks ready, boys. This could be a bulletin-board kind of week ~ ~ ~

I could care less what they have to say..... I'm just ready to let our presence on the field do our talking.

Besides it's not a totally incorrect statement. You have to look at the players who make it a winning team and IF they are availible and can help you WHY wouldn't you try to obtain them if they're going to IMPROVE your team?

I agree, there is a truth in what he said, so that means next season they will be getting our players right? :D

I have no problem with the statement and am not a big bulletin board believer anyway. Talent, game planning, and execution are always the key factors. The motivation should come from belief in the systems and the team concept in general.
