View Full Version : Private Lynch is a millionaire!

I don't have a clue as to why i'm in the political forum....:D
And I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. But, I did see today where Private Jessica Lynch has signed a 1 million dollar contract to write about her ordeals in Iraq.
I"m not sure if I agree with this or not. Sure it was her that went thru this but should she be making money off of a war that many are still dieing in? And how about the other military personel that were captured? Sure, they didn't get rescued in the middle of the night. But what they went thru was just as bad as her ordeal.
What do you guys think? Should she become a millionaire off of a war experience? Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it...

Books are written and movies are made about every war...better she cash in than someone that wasn't even over there...

Well bfauble, thats just it. I"m sure those books will start out around $15-$25 dollars or more.
And if you consider that they'll sell around 1 million copies, [rounded off to the easiest #] thats $15-$25 million dollars that someone else will be making who didn't get near Iraq. The publishing company will make a killing. I personally think they'll sell way more copies than what I used as an example.

My opinion is simple and basic. She has been discharged from the military so she is free to enter a contract whether it be a book and/or a movie deal. She is a civilian now, so good for her. She did her time in the military, probably has income via VA/Army medical disability and now she is out. Thanks for her service/sacrifice, good luck to her.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with Seeway about it. She's a private citizen now. If Ann Coulter can make millions "writing" her "books," then an actual human being like Private Lynch ought to be able to make a few bucks, too.

If she is on her own as a private citizen, she has a right to be paid like the rest of us. I think she has 'paid her dues.'

I have changed my stance. I was unaware that she was discharged. I thought she was still serving in the military full time.
My apologies to Jessica Lynch. She does have the right to tell her story. and to get paid to do it.

The problem is, she has repeatedly said that she doesn't remember the events surrounding her capture. Other reports indicate that her injuries occured as a result of a roll-over of the vehicle she was in. An inspection of her weapon showed that it was jammed and was never fired on that fatefull occasion. There are credible indications that the supposed, "torture", never occured and that there were no Iraqi troops near the hospital when the, "daring, nighttime rescue", was carried out. Given all this, how can she have a, "story", to tell?

Yes, that is my problem as well. She is any more of a hero than anyone else that is currently fighting over in Iraq. What exactly did she do? She screwed up, got caught, was treated as well as possible by the Iraqis, and then was dramatically rescued when it wasn't warranted. Her entire book will be a huge lie, a huge million dollar lie. She should not be allowed to do this.

Question: what does, "Papoose" under my name mean? Does that mean that I am the FNG? If so, when do I get to be an, "old salt"? Please explain; I am new at this.

Totally agree with Gump84 and Roberro, I've even heard the personnel from the Iraqui's hopsital saying they tried to bring her in an ambulance to the US camp but they've been shot at so they had to come back to the hospital wher she has been saved later...

What because you don't like what Ann Coulter has to say shes not a human being?
What you think it is allright for a woman soilder who got rapped seven days from sunday is OK to make money, but others can't sell there thought?
Did you buy Ann's Book? If yes then why complain? If no then why do you think you can tell others what to buy and read? After all she wouldn't have made millions if people didn't read it, and buy it.
If you don't like Ann's book then fine, but it is silly to even throw her or any other person into a topic with Lynch.
Lynch went through more in her young life than any of us could imagen for are kid or wife or our selves. And your comment was hatefull and cheep. It would be like me saying, well if hillary can right a book, then I guess that lynch can. Because Lynch is human and Hillary isn't. That is some B.S. plain and simple.
You commented on Lynch to crack on someone you don't agree with. Nothing more and nothing less.

It's just part of the ranking system used on this board roberro. It's based on the number of posts you make.

So, how many posts do I have to make to graduate to the next level, (whatever that may be)?

This is the funniest post I have read in quite some time... and despite the fact that I will be sticking up for my buddy Spence, I must respond anyway.
First... Spence is allowed his opinion just like the rest of us. It is the great American right... to speak your mind about anything at all without fear of punishment. There are many many people I question as being part of the human race due to their strange doctrine... as all of us do. (Yes, Im sure even you, my man).
Second... where is the proof that Lynch got raped? (Unless you mean "rapped" and that she is surpising us all with her rhyming talent). I personally feel Jessica Lynch was the same type of female that I served with while in the military... whiney, sniffling, and totally disoriented in battle. (Please note Im not saying they ALL are that way... just 90% of them... Im certain the military ladies you all know are part of that 10%).
Private Lynch was sitting in the truck just following orders and trying to keep her finernails clean when the driver took a wrong turn, got lost, and had a wreck. Some Iraqi's stumbled upon them and held them as prisoners... No heroism... no victorious battle... no George Washington look-alike anywhere to be found.
Third... Please tell us all that your incredible misuse of the English language and constant mis-spelling of words was intentional.

Just as intentional as your lack of a answer. Thankyou for the heads up!
Since you want proof of what I said on Lynch, and it is just talk from guys I know that where in Iraq, and since you just gave your thought from whatever time you say, we can call that a wash.
But please come give your reason on what Lynch and a book has to do with Ann. You defend your man, then you answer why that wasn't a crack back on Ann using the subject of Lynch.
And as far as people having the right to say whatever, when did I say they didn't? What are people exspected to read every article Spence post and if they have a different take, be told about free speach and be bashed on for grammer? Why ? Because a simple respounce is to hard to answer?
Yeah I will go find spell check, as soon as you two answer a simple quistion.
My grammer.LoL Yeah it sucks, but atleast I don't enter statements I can't backup and bust on grammer to defend myself.
Lets go Budget, War or whatever, and lets see if you can win on facts and study from my poor grammer self. I didn't enter a spelling contest, so don't act like I did.
You guys answer what you say for once, back it up. Try me on what you will, if I don't no I will say it. But first you tell me how the comment I responded to was not a crack on Ann and nothing more. Then we can go from there. Like I said the first time, that post was some boo hoo this and that, and a crack on someone a person didn't like. Nothing to do with the topic of lynch.
You bring your political book, and I will use spell check. Agreed?

You commented on Lynch to crack on someone you don't agree with. Nothing more and nothing less. This has got to be one of the weirdest replies I've ever read here. Let's sort through this.
1. Of course I know Ann Coulter is human. Obviously she's human. I think that was a pretty clear case of me being facetious. It was my way of saying that I think if a miserable, lying creep like Ann Coulter can make money from "writing" books, then so should someone who has actually tried to do something decent with her life, like Private Lynch.
2. No, I've never bought any of Coulter's books and never would. I've read excerpts, though. They're laughable and filled with so many mistakes even right-wingers are embarrassed of her. That's why they keep firing her from jobs. She's a joke and the only people who don't know that are the uneducated rubes who buy her books.
3. When did I try to tell anyone what they can or cannot read? I think my point was about more freedom [Lynch having the right to write a book] rather than less. Anyone who wants to waste their time and money buying and reading an Ann Coulter book is free to do so. Knock yourselves out, one and all. I couldn't care less.
4. YOU WROTE: "Lynch went through more in her young life than any of us could imagen for are kid or wife or our selves. And your comment was hatefull and cheep."
Uh, what? My comments were not directed at Private Lynch. Obviously. I had nothing bad to say about Private Lynch, just about Ann Coulter. And I stand by those comments. And anyone who doesn't like it can lump it.
5. No I replied to this thread so I could answer a question posed by my good buddy CarMike. The opportunity to take a poke at Ann Coulter was just the icing on the cake.
