Pretty frank stuff here by Jon Jansen--maybe a little too frank. I don't think there is any real good reason to point out a teammate's weakness in public. Jon himself is not perfect either. In fact, he has slipped some the last couple of years. I wonder if JJ will be receiving any Christmas card from the Brunells this year.
Jansen is right that the offense is handcuffed with Brunell at the helm, but I think Jon is wrong about the reason. True, Mark's mobility is not what it used to be, but mobility is not a big problem for him. In fact, Brunell has occasionally gotten the team first downs with his feet. MB's biggest problem is that he can't keep the defense honest with his downfield throws. There is every reason for the defense to put 8 or even 9 men in the box when Brunell is under center, because he just doesn't have the arm to burn the opponents any more.

I think that's commentary from PennSkinsFan and not quotes from Jansen.

What is actually in the block quote is Jansen, the rest is blog commentary on the comments. True, Brunell has ran for first downs, but come on dude, he is no where close to being mobile. He doesn't scare one single defense out there, even the Texans with his legs, well, or his arm.

I misread the post (as to what Jansen said). Sorry about that.
But, I still don't think mobility is a big problem for Brunell, even today. In his younger days, mobility was one of Mark's strengths. Granted Brunell has lost some of that shiftiness. But, he can still move around in the pocket fairly well and occasionally convert a third down with his feet.
What MB really lacks now is the arm to go downfield and keep the defense from cheating. I think Jason La Confora (sp?) pointed out in one of his blogs that the Skins running game really took off once Campbell took over because the defense could no longer overload the box. I totally agree with that.
